The Seychelles Peoples' Defense Forces (SPDF) is now equipped with two new military vehicles donated by the Indian government.
The outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Seychelles, Thanglura Darlong, presented the keys of the two Land Rover type "Tata four-wheel drives" to the Chief of the Seychelles Defence Forces, Brigadier Leopold Payet in a ceremony at the SPDF headquarters at Bel Eau yesterday morning.

The Seychelles Foreign Affairs Minister Jean Paul Adam was given the honour of officially starting the vehicles.
The vehicles have been built to the latest military standards and designed to transport troops.

Darlong described the donation as testimony of the friendship and cooperation which exists between two countries, including in the areas of defense and security.

India and Seychelles share a long history of military cooperation starting almost since Seychelles became independent in 1976.
Each year a number of Seychellois soldiers are sent to for training at various Military Academies in New Delhi.

Still as part of cooperation in the military field, last year the Indian government donated a Dornier 228 Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft to the Seychelles Defence Forces.

so is this mean india should feel immense pride/proud in itself just because it donate or give away 2-3 vehicles to a tiny island.:laugh::lol:
One or two does not matter, what matters is that a small seemingly insignificant act of largesse has helped maintian and improve albiet insignificantly the diplomatic and military ties between our nations.

Yeah small steps towards big leaps. As a small marketing gimmick we can have our products distributed for free in small countries and then make a small example of our products going outside India and people get hands on "Indian" tech just like there have US/Russia/Israel tech.

It's a common Business Marketing Strategy for a product to grow where FREE small samples are distributed so people don't think much about accepting it.After using it the user can make up their mind.

Pehle istemaal karein fir vishwas karein.

Till we start donating Aircraft Carriers to US we can do these small steps.

Its a good step in building friendly and long term relationship with foreign nations, but i would be personally very much disappointed if IA has selected this vehicle as its replacement for the age old jypsy's and other vehicles under its belt.
This design based on British Army rover design is vintage and has very little scope for improvements, such structurally obsolete vehicles are going to be the future of IA mainstay.
Whatever happened to AXE!

This move is to boost sales of Indica, Manza, Safari, and Aria, in Seychelles domestic market.
