Russia is supplying jet engines and various weapon systems to China. US supplies military aircraft to Pakistan. India has been sulking all along due to these supplies. Its an oppurtunity for these 2 countries to get back at India by sulking at us!
This is why 2 European planes are shortlisted in the MRCA.

certainly looks like a snub!

these war games dont just get decided at a drop of a hat or one fine morning people call up each other and say, hey lets have some fun, come over with your sailors, its been such a long time! without a doubt there would be people involved in planning these exercises out well in advance and even if this exercise was to be called off, the same should have been communicated well within time.

something's just not right happening here and if this is the real thing, indians made a blunder of a mistake by rejecting f18s.

or is it that the indians went there to pick up something that was to be brought back only under navy's escort and all this was communicated and planned well before ................. ah well, we need our resident kgb ................ avi to get us the scoop ............. till then everyone have a good night sleep!

Agreed 100% here, ritesh. I wonder what consequences will India face in the end-game of Afghanistan.

Russia is selling RD-93 engines to China to indirectly give Pakistan a warplane, why are they suprised at this move?? The whole purpose of MRCA was to go to a new different platform and away from Russian platforms.

LF Russia recently announced that no re-export of RD-93 engine (indirectly JF-17) can be done by Pakistan. This means that China can give the Blunders to Pakistan but Pakistan itself cannot export to other countries, I think this was the result of India's lobbying in Russia against any such move.

Not only that, they even backed out on the cryogenic engine for the ISRO-GSLV under US pressure. They need to show some spine or else we won't rely on a spineless country. They should look at the former USSR, of which the Russian Federation was the largest participating republic, and learn how to grow a spine. Russia's political and economic position is much stronger than the 1990s. It's their choice. Gorshkov will also remain in our minds for some time now and that doesn't help either.

This move is meaningless Pakistan is still getting access to rd-93 who cares if they can export it or not?? If Pakistan is getting it why should we care if the whole world also gets it?? It is more a move by Russians to preserve one of the few warplane engines they have left MIG and SUKHOI.

I think we should reconsider ordering more T-90's.

Snub or No Snub, this isnt related to MRCA. Bloggers have gone so delusional to see everything out of MRCA lenses.

Russian forces won't want itself to appear so unprofessional by calling off 2 exercises. There is something else in here.

It is simple, Pakistan wouldn't be able to produce more aircrafts as it can't sell it, so the amount of tech-absorption that the Pakistanis do will be minimum and there stands a limit to a specific number of engines which Russia will supply China, not more than that.

Recently, China announcing 50 JF-17s to Pakistan, that are built in China and not in Pakistan. It raises some questions???

If we hadn't already ordered a bulk of those, maybe yes. Sadly, we have already ordered them and now it probably won't be a great idea to have yet another type of tank. For the sake of simplifying our logistics, we have to order those. Moreover, we are also building some at Avadi.

I agree though, that if India had not already ordered those T-90s, India should have considered tanks from other countries. Even Arjun at the moment is looking very attractive.

Russians did not give us the BRAHMOS source codes even when they have not inducted the missile and they are ready to give an engine which they themselves use.

If you look at all the recent big deals by India;Russia has not been given one from missiles to combat helicopters etc...The problems originally started with defective KLUB missiles on kilos subs and then gorshokov and worsened.

They are wary of our ambiguous foreign policy more than independent foreign policy, so they are holding back some cards on Indial i guess.

Can we see the delay in leasing of Nuke Sub by Russia through this prism???

we developed Brahmos from Yakhont and funded a good part of it but it seems like the Russians did not keep their side of the deal. Either way we have Shaurya and k-15 developed and Nirbhay being developed with Israelis.

Even with our existing technology and a little work we can build aircraft's which are far superior to our neighbors, i dont understand why we need to buy. We need to build or die, we should follow that to death and we can do it.

Strategic relations with Russia remains strong even in any scenario. Even if there is any snub from Indian or Russian side, these are merely pinches. I wouldn't read much between the lines.

With or without indigenous industry, India is going away from Russian arms market. Russians know this fact very well so its all figured out for them.
