LIVE: Supreme Court strikes down Section 66A of IT Act | Latest News & Updates at Daily News & Analysis

Well, I have not been much of fan of SC putting their nose in executive's matters often, but when comes to law truly Indian SC has been proving that they are a very vital pillar for our democracy.

But I am a bit disappointed with the current govt. as I hoped they would remove the proviso soon after assuming power. But I guess, politicians and govts. don't easily want to give any bit of power to put in their own use.

Great move. Modi sarkar should have removed this draconian section on their own. But as @jackprince pointed out, power is a highly addictive allure, no one wants to give it up easily.

Indeed, this was Kapil Sibal's way to gag all.

Should have been scrapped, but then politicians are all the same.

Supreme Court at an earlier occasion too had been critical of the language of the laws that are being drafted. But that probably didn't go well with the people those who draft the law.

Good. Now if Modi govt. dares try to bring back the law in a backhanded manner, they will lose my support, and that of several other "Bhakts".

Kapil Sibal, Salman Kursed and Anand Sharma remind me of Rasputin. Very powerful and very cunning to ensure their power through currying for favours of the Supreme Leader and keep the family in its Ivory Tower.

    LOL

This isnt going to stop people from feeling offended about certain opinion & keep them away from causing ruckus on streets. They'll always find something to be offended about.

Kevin Spacey can spit on jesus. Imagine same in India.

I wait to see someone offending loyalists of Ammas & Didis or even beloved Modi with their free speech.

I am guessing the "star journos" mentioned in these Tweets are none other than the secular scoundrels Rajdeep and Sagarika. But I'm guessing, I may be wrong.

Re: SC strikes down Section 66A of IT Act, calling it unconstitutiona

Modi government should have done it, the excuse of power does it doesn't help you escape it nor cut the ice, simple and straight as that. Had the government done this and not defended it, the Sagrika's of the would wouldn't have dared endorsed the move but shouted for the ban to stay for they would take a stance against the government. Why the BJP government didn't do it is apparent because they are no angels just as the Congress never was, but after taking a larger than life stance, Modi needs to know better, mediocre politics isn't going to take him far. He has presented himself as smart, he better act smart, else the hidden leftist in majority of Indians won't take long to emerge, better learn your lessons from Delhi!
