Nitish Kumar seems to have put the cat amongst the pigeons.

However, what is his game plan?

Was he trying to bring Modi down a notch or two, when there was this kiteflying that Modi is all set to take over as the PM if the NDA wins?

Or is it to set himself up as the 'secular' alternative as the PM of the NDA, for after all, he has proved that he too is a great CM who has turned around a failed state as Behar.

And what was Nitish's haste to put a spoke in the machinery?

Or is it that he feels that he would be comfortable to be in a 'Third Front', taking the chance that such an alignment will emerge in 2014 given the disenchantment of the people with the Congress and Manmohan Singh and with the BJP given their petty and internecine squabbles within?

Nitish Kumar must have been making noise to please Congress - he got a 20,000 crore package for his efforts! Not only Nitish Kumar, JD(U) spokes persons have been very aggressive on TV debates in the past few weeks, so it is in all likelihood a signal to BJP that JD(U) has other options, either a Third Front or UPA.

I think it's high time, Nitish should quit NDA. He is liability. In any case, He has to leave NDA if Modi is projected as PM candidate.
