Survivability and crashworthiness are not just attributes of the S-70B helicopter, they're inherent to the design. A strict military standard makes the S-70B aircraft a rugged and extremely durable helicopter that delivers safety. Safety that has been proven in real missions, around the world. Some of our aircraft have over thirty years of service and continue to support operations in the most rigorous of environments known to man. Mission Ready.

The S-70B SEAHAWK aircraft offers standard and optional equipment for superior offensive and defensive operations in open-ocean and littoral environments. In an ASW mission, the S-70B helicopter is deployed from the parent ship to classify, localize and potentially attack when a suspected threat has been detected by the ship's towed-array sonar, hull-mounted sonar, or by other internal or external sources. The S-70B has the capacity to carry homing torpedoes, such as the EuroTorp A244 or MK-46.

Straight forward design allows for quick configuration changes to fit your mission requirements. The S-70B model has been designed by pilots, operators and maintainers for pilots, operators and maintainers keeping focus on day and night missions. In the ASW mode, the interior is designed to reduce operator workload and promote ease of operations.

Confident that very soon S-70B Seahawk will be added to Indian Navy fleet, says Sikorsky

Giving a fresh thrust of hope over the Seahawk deal, Sikorsky stated that very soon the Indian Navy can say that S-70B helicopter has been added to their fleet. "We are working diligently with Contract Negotiation Committee to complete the deal this year," Nathalie Previte, Vice President of Sikorsky told Economictimes.com at the Defence Expo 2016.

In December 2014, Indian Navy had selected Sikorsky to provide 16 multi-role naval helicopters. But, since then the deal has been stuck over price negotiations. In a written reply to Lok Sabha in August 2015, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said the procurement proposal for the helicopters is being processed in accordance with the Defence Procurement procedure and the request for price escalation was not found acceptable by the Contract Negotiation Committee (CNC).

On being asked about the limitations of 'Make in India' in defence, Previte said, "I don't see any limitations of 'Make in India' in defence, personally. Sikorsky already has a joint venture with Tata and it will continue investing in India."

Appreciating the government for making a business-friendly environment, Previte said, "In the past there has been delay in the procurement process, but now we are very hopeful and happy to see progress being made in promoting ease of doing business."

Sikorsky's Regional Executive for India and South Asia, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Arvind Walia, said, "Sikorsky was the first OEM to have started 'Make in India', even when this slogan was never heard of. Earlier the policies were not very conducive for doing business. However, today all the policies are moving in the right direction."
