This is a belief which has been proved wrong since Sep 30, 2015.
Naysayers said, oh Russia? They don't have airpower, they don't have money to sustain anything anywhere. We are a year past that now. So I ask you - where is the airpower and money coming from? Russia is a sleeping giant. US would do well not to anger it any more than they already have.
USA projects its powers through jew produced Hollywood movies. Russia on the other hand, projects it through the wings of Sukhois and Mikoyans. That is the fundamental difference.

I have no love lost for USA but to think they are weak is sheer stupidity .

Americans are constrained by their own previous actions. By the ghost of Gaddafi and the chaos that followed in Libya .

They are not ready to be blamed for similar chaos all too soon.

Fact is that USA can fly more planes , and drop more bombs and can do it for longer durations than Russia.

It is not doing so because of politics not because of weakness.

And no matter what Russia does Syria is a basket case. Assad will never rule unchallenged ever again.

In DFI, we did a lot of research and discussion on Gorshkov. It was built at Nikolayev. It was later converted from an Aviation Cruiser into an Aircraft Carrier at Severodvinsk, and re-christened Vikramaditya. Our friend Oleg Kuleshov gave us a lot of nice pictures.

We learnt a lot of things about Soviet Aviation Cruisers. The Gorshkov (then Baku) and other Soviet Aviation Cruisers were made in Nikolayev, not very far from Odessa. Also, given that @Akim is a military expert, as he claims, he should know better.

Both of you stop to think about the past? Two young men, but behave like old men. You correctly described the use of the principle of aircraft cruiser with Soviet times. However, it is not needed in this situation. Exploitation of maritime fighter 2 times more expensive. Russia has an air base in Syria. They can block completely the threat of attack from the sea. This is a false proof of the power, which is aimed at civilian consumers in the West and inside the country.
