Now we are seeing some balance in the equations. It is good Russia is arming the government of Syria, in the face of rebels getting arms shipped through Turkey.
I for one do not see a bunch of armed rebels as 'pro-democracy,' but then, that argument has a merit; after all, uncontrolled democracy leads to mob rule.
It would have been best if all sides sat down and negotiated, but since there is still a lot of excitement left, let them fight it out till exhaustion. Sooner or later, all will come to their senses and negotiate and peaceful settlement.
The thing is, if you are wrong, will anybody remember what you said?

If I am wrong, i.e., if they do not come to their senses, they will kill each other to oblivion. If that is what they want, there isn't much anyone can do.
Turkey is the point of contact for the Syrian rebels when receiving arms. Funding is coming from KSA and allies, and that explains why Iran is helping Syria to counter Saudi influence. On a speculative note, all countries that have suddenly become critical of Assad, might have a stake.
