Russia ready to sell Su-35 fighter jets to China

Russia's state-run arms exporter Rosoboronexport said on Tuesday it was ready to hold talks with China on the delivery of advanced Su-35 fighter aircraft to the Chinese air force.

"We are ready to work with our Chinese partners to this end [Su-35 deliveries]," Deputy General Director of Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheyev said at the Airshow China 2010, which is being held on November 16-21 in Zhuhai.

The Su-35 Flanker-E, powered by two 117S engines with thrust vectoring, combines high maneuverability and the capability to effectively engage several air targets simultaneously using both guided and unguided missiles and weapon systems.

Russia's Sukhoi aircraft maker earlier said it planned to start deliveries of the new aircraft, billed as "4++ generation using fifth-generation technology," to foreign clients in 2011 and produce Su-35s over a period of 10 years up to 2020.

China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) is the only international aerospace trade show in China that is endorsed by the Chinese central government. The biannual arms exhibition has been held in Zhuhai since 1996.

This is really a bad news for us. Sometimes I feel though Russians are good for us but they are good for China as well. Su 35 will definitely give a much needed edge to Chinese Airforce.

Russian do not have any option but to sell this AC to whomsoever can buy it. As we know Russian defense industry is not in good shape, in addition they want to make most out of this probably last of flanker in market. Except a few order from Libiya etc. they do not have big order for this AC. Moreover IAF is also not interested in Su-35, therefore China becomes the ideal prospect for this AC.

This is certainly a bad news for us, as this plane is really formidable. Apart from all good feature of MKIs it has low RCS, advanced engine, much much better air to ground attack capability & long range for deep strike missions.

We need to counter this deal.

well, I think that Russia's hawk of Su35 will be as in vain as they hawked their Su33 one years ago

Su35 has not gengeration edge on J11B, it is not necessary for PLA to order it at all.

Well china needs at least few to rip off and steal some technology from these planes.
But this Time Russin will take entire money in advance and then only will start delivery. You cannot fool them twice.

Guys it is an admission of failure
The Russian officials might be saying this but they they know in their hearts why the Chinese want to buy this plane ,only to rip it off and clone it

Have the chinese expressed their desire to buy this plane and does this mean that J 11 is a lemon

The IAF acquisition of European or American planes in MMRCA contract AND the Japanese and Taiwanese acqusitions of F 15 strike eagles and the latest F16 respectively armed with AESA have alarmed the chinese

What happened to JXX the stealthy or should we say the " still invisible " Chinese stealth plane

lets see what is the issue the SU-35 was first evaluated and offered to india with a fast track delivery but instead indians went with the additional MKI with upgrades to it so i think the forces know very well what suits india the most but having said that the RAF has ordered a few of the su35BM so to get the best revenue out of them russia is looking for customers since long that will help to keep the production line open also help to get revenue once knappo starts a production of the PAKFA in 5-8 years there will be hardly takers for BM on international scale.

    > i think china would do better to get them because it they can afford it
    > they will need to replace a lot of old fleet
    > some good technology coming the way is always good to learn
    > with that capacity of the AF PLAAF needs some diverse product from the domestic ones
    > i think all round its always a good deal if through

indians need not worry because they too have the oppurtunity to have this or a customized version and majority of the features will be available with the pakfa that too a generation ahead

Our Su 30 mki with upgrades will be as good as Su 35 .The old SU 30 mki are being upgraded and New ones too will be the upgraded ones.

If any thing IAF will move fast on MMRCA and also on PAK FA /FGFA . Otherwise HAL would have taken too long for completing FGFA .Now there will be a sense of urgency.

Su 27 when acquired by China in 1995 led to Su 30 mki by India in 1996 .Lets see where this leads us too

the sukhoi 35 has a combat raduis of 1580 km compared to the sukhoi -30 MKI ,which has a combat radius of 1500 km . this is a modest increase . i think the differences between the sukhoi -30 MKI and sukhoi 35 are on this modest scale.

Even though admittedly , for the first time since india bought the MKI , has china been offered a better aircraft , we need not be unduly worried about it.

I just wish to hear from people who throw a ton load of BS about why India should not purchase from US as they supply military hardware to Pakistan.

Would we see any policy change in the IAF to switch to Su-35 for future production?

May be we can get the newer engine and switch to Israeli Radar systems in future production.

well, Russians are quite unconfident on the future.they knows that CHina is just one neck behind Russia now and due to poor economy and budget,Russian aircraft industry will have no chance to win the race the the future at all.

that is why Russians blah "China copy this" "CHina copy that" all day and all night Now while they shut their mouth up when Chinese aircraft industry was miles behind one decade ago

For me its other way around. Why CHina is buying them if they are so sure of their Aircraft industry. China is already working on 5th generation plane and why buy a 4th generation plane.

If China were still buying Russia's 4G plane, Russian would gladly shut up at once, instead of blah "CHina copy this, china copy that " and trying their best to hawking their su30/Su33/Su34/su35 and Mg29 to CHina all day and all night

They are deprived of sight to see the reality. Maybe they have solution like 'Buy each & every Russian toy so it won't end up in China'. They forget the very fact that, there are no brothers or friends in Arms Market. That pro-Russian & anti-US logic is complete bullshyt as far as Arms purchase is concerned.

India has every reason to switch from Russia to US while buying Defense Equipments. Already US electronics sophistication takes edge over Russians. Too sad that, pace of indigenization of Indian Arms development is slow, that external elements are going to enjoy each benefit of it while creating more problems for India.

You are not answering simple logic, 'If China is so self-sufficient in aircraft engineering, why China is still buying from Russia??'
    Why it is so BG?

Just prior to this post you yourself farted that China is self reliant in aircraft manufacturing . I completely agree that Russian planes are junks. No one should buy them. At least Almighty China should avoid buying those junks .

But question remains same "why is China buying them ?"
