I think India should lap it up. We need a commercial aircraft production unit in India. We can either rope in HAL or NAL or simply create a new company with collaboration from the foreign partners (Russia/Ukraine) with new and young Indian engineers in charge. This way we might see some competition between the existing units and the new one.

In the future, this very approach can propel us into the club of a select few countries that can build large airliners.

Both NAL and HAL are involved in RTA. So they might not accept this also RTA is in same class as this aircraft so it may affect its future market too.

Sounds good that Mahindra is into components. Now we have to hope that they will expand into building planes. The same goes with TATA and other companies.

That is never going to happen at most we can manufacture some components for domestic consumption. All the JV and partnership are just for 30% investment in India. They have invested billions in the European markets and want jobs back home and they will never transfer any breakthrough technology or the technology that we don't have .
Like Americans they will give only when we are on the verge of a break through,

we make mki, hawk can we export it to other countries ,BIG NO. At most we can export to oem.

china can make cheap copies and export it at very cheap rates because they never respect any ip and have very cheap labour they don't make any licensed copy at least, few samples, few years for reverse engineering,u have a cheap Chinese version at cheaper price.

Great News! I think we should go for it immediately. This is one big offer that has to be taken in ASAP. We need some experience in this industry and Russia is just offering that. Advantages are clearly mutual here: they get cheaper labor for production, we get experience in aircraft making and well... both benefit here.

Come on GOI, we might not get another chance to rise faster than this.. at least not so soon if we don't accept.

RTA is also from the same company here as what the Russians are offering. Antonov isn't 100% Ukrainian but a joint agreement with Russians. This might only add big time to their profile so it is likely that they will grab it.

If someone like Mahindra and Mahindra grab it, it will be great for our country, but government dodos will lose a big chance to bling again.. Personally I pray that some private giant takes the bait.

I agree - TATA or Mahindra has the best chance with this.
