I am not suprised with this development. India should always have been a pro western nation . This will force india to have better relations with western nations.Only progress in the world will come from the west. India is an important country and her global influence is bound to grow. India's new foreign policy doesn't make her any country's ally, India will not join one block or another. It will be better for us to keep all our International Relations completely "Transactional" as described in our new Foreign Policy manual.

I agree that India gains more from doing business with the West but we cannot afford to become it's "tool" against the Emerging China. We have got differences with the western block over a wide range of issues, and we will collaborate with countries having shared interest when that is required.

Our ultimate goal must be hegemony over the Indian Subcontinent and over the Indian Ocean Region. But before that we need to become self-sufficient in advanced technologies and gain economic weight which will take us several decades.

For a long time india was a quasi democracy hiding behind a veil of non alignment .while the politicians looted the country blind. India will have to be pro west when you have two communist nations undermining you. India does not have decades. No one is waiting for india to become a superpower they are doing their best to prevent it. India is paying the price for political apathy and lack of strategic vision in the past.

The FGFA deal is worth much more and important. Can FGFA work in a environment where Russia deals with Pakis and PRC and we deal with western nations where the Pakis and PRC want Russian welfare and the western nations want Indian affiliation. Can FGFA work where we have more western technology yes. Do Pakis and PRC military relationship depend on one another. Does PRC relationship depend on Russia.

FGFA development with India will only benefit Russia. Will we never betray the western technology providers but they will have to show to us that they can work with Russia being close to us. We simply cannot betray and will not back-stab the Russians. But Russian needs to accept that it cannot deal with us in a simple supplier relationship and a higher technology more advanced relationship needs to develop. Is Russia at the same level like the western nations. It is acceptance of reality. Can Russia get to the same level of western nations (production and quality). That is the FGFA and we are supporting them and want them to improve. The SU30 beyond family we were there to support.

For FGFA deal will it happen that is what the Western nations need to be explained. We have a long history with Russia and also western nations. It is not in our nature of our forging policy and etiquette and one can say in the equitable terms and conscience. We will get closer to western nations. We have a lot to offer. We are not a simple customer that pays. We are also doing a lot on our own. We have important relationships that are independent of Russia and Western Nations. Such relationships provide us support and we also provide them support independent of Russia and Western nations.

The Pakis and PRC does not have such.

Russia understands our approach and it will benefit Russia and they need to improve a little in the long-term but we need to get the best and ideally it will be done by doing and building on our own with close relationships with others. We need to make good relations with the west because simply we are not a threat to them and they do not need to threaten us.

The more fascinating relationship is how Russia dealing with PRC. ***** Our weapons are not a threat to Russia.

Who cares what Russians do in Paki land our economy in PPP terms is much bigger than Russia , In nominal terms we probably have overtaken Russia , get over that inferiority complex . We are a 2 trillion dollar ( 7 trillion ppp) economy growing at 7.5 % per annum and Paki economy is smaller than Maharashtra , let them invest in Paki land.
We have enough leverage over Russia to prevent Russia in giving a single cent to beggeristan .Get over this inferiority complex of Russia giving few trinkets to beggeristan we should instead worry about 2 trillion dollars we need for our infrastructure in the next 7 years .

Through it's actions Russia has been trying to dissuade India against moving away from Russian "influence". Russia has forgotten the fact that Russia is not USSR and India of 2015 is very different from India of 60s-70s. Russia has committed a mistake.
