So what if the Russians are joining CPEC? They are doing it for economic reasons, not strategic ones. Russians are building a gas pipeline in Pakistan. Are we losing sleep over that? In fact, it would benefit India greatly that the Russians are involved, may be act as a restraint against Pakistan.

Whether Russia is or not, it cant be denied that distance between India and Russia is increasing. That is because of India cancelling Russian MiG 35 in favour of Rafael and Mi 28 in favour of Apache. India needs to understand there is no need to make US satisfied by purchasing equipment from them, US is suffering from cold war phobia as China continues to rise so whether India buys US equipment or not US for now will be pro-India.

And the logic India gave while acquiring US equipment is just facepalm type, diversifying weapon's origin. US and Russian equipment are different so in case of war will we be able to acquire different spare parts? I would say India should have purchased the license technology of Mirage 2000 from France to keep France happy, MiG 29UPG and K license technology from Russia.
