U.S. News - Election, economy spark explosive growth of militias

Election, economy spark explosive growth of militias
By Stephanie Schendel, Murrow News Service

The election of President Barack Obama in 2008 triggered an explosion in the number of militias and so-called patriot groups in the United States, the Southern Poverty Law Center reported in its annual tally of such anti-government organizations.

There were 149 militias and patriot groups when Obama took office, compared to more than 1,200 today — an increase of 755 percent, the nonprofit civil rights organization reported.

(Screen shot from a training video used by the Christian militia group Hutaree in March 2010. The group was allegedly preparing for a battle with the Antichrist, whom they believed would be supported by local, state and federal officials. Nine were arrested and charged with conspiring to kill police officers, then kill scores more by attacking a funeral using homemade bombs.)

"The increase has just been astounding," said Mark Potok, editor-in-chief of the SPLC report. "The reality is that many of these groups are becoming more and more fearful that Barack Obama will win the re-election. You can see the anger rising along with that fear."

The SPLC defines the "patriot" movement as made up of conspiracy-minded individuals who see the federal government as their primary enemy. The movement includes paramilitary militias as well as groups of "sovereign citizens," who believe they are not subject to federal or state laws, nor obligated to pay federal taxes, according to SPLC.

The center also reports a steady rise in the number of hate groups in America — from 604 in 2000, to more than 1,000 last year. Those include anti-gay groups, anti-Muslim groups, black separatists and "Christian Identity" groups, which hold racist and anti-Semitic views that overlap with neo-Nazi beliefs.

The spike in these groups can be attributed to a combination of factors, including the sluggish economy, radical propaganda and anxiety over the election of a black president, Potok said.

Potok said although many individuals involved in patriot militias are not criminals, a handful of these groups have been responsible for a significant amount of violence in recent years.

Government employees targeted

SPLC provides one of the few annual reports on militia or anti-government groups. The Federal Bureau of Investigation does not track militia groups unless they are alerted to violent or extremist activity, according to an agency spokesman.

"Some of these groups veer into violent extremism," said Frank Harrill, special agent in charge of the FBI's office in Spokane, Wash., and spokesman for the Inland Northwest Joint Terrorism Task Force. "Where hate and ignorance and violence collide, that is where our interests lie."

Two militia groups have made headlines in recent years for allegedly hatching violent plots to target government employees.

Seven people from the Michigan-based Hutaree Christian militia are on trial for allegedly conspiring to ambush and kill a police officer. They allegedly plotted to follow up the ambush with an attack on the officer's funeral procession in the hope of killing more officers, and thus sparking a revolt against the U.S. government. Recent evidence presented in trial included a recording made by an undercover FBI agent in which the militia's leader, David Stone, 47, says he is going to "start huntin'" police soon. The seven have pleaded innocent, and argue that the "plot" was nothing but talk, protected by the First Amendment.

And in November four members of a Georgia-based militia, all in their 60s and 70s, were charged with plotting to buy explosives and the ingredients to make a deadly toxin to attack government officials. They are in custody awaiting trial.

But members of other militias say that exercising their constitutional right to bear arms does not mean they are committed to revolution.

Spokane-based militia member Ed LeStage, 59, denied that his group, the 63rd Battalion of Lightfoot Militia, which was listed on as an active militia group in the SPLC's report, was a danger — unless, he said, "you're a communist or socialist who attacks us."

LeStage, a veteran to the patriot movement, said he believes the increased number of militias comes from U.S. citizens' desire to restore the country to its constitutional roots. He also said that what he called President Obama's intrusion on personal liberties also has driven growth in the movement.

"He's been after our guns," LeStage said. "Obama's been the best gun salesman there ever was."

From his home in eastern Washington, LeStage broadcasts weekly training videos to militia members across the country. Those videos — which include instruction on such things as drinking one's own urine and scavenging for food — are meant to help members survive anarchy or economic collapse.

LeStage said he has been involved in militias and related groups for more than 20 years, including the Idaho Mountain Boys, a member of which was arrested in September 2002 for plotting to kill a federal judge and a police officer.

That member, Larry Raugust, served 77 months for possession and production of pipe bombs. Today, Raugust has a member profile on LeStage's militia website, which has added more than 1,000 members since its launch last fall.

"(Raugust) is just a friend," LeStage said. "He doesn't belong to our unit. He is a convicted felon."

LeStage explained that his militia requires each member to obtain a concealed weapons permit. As a felon, Raugust is not allowed to carry weapons, LeStage said.

The patriot movement first peaked in 1994, said Potok, the author of the SPLC report, in the aftermath of deadly confrontations at Ruby Ridge, Idaho, in 1992 and Waco, Texas in 1993, where anti-government groups came under siege by federal authorities.

Membership then dropped sharply during President George W. Bush's two terms before rebounding in late 2008 after the election of Obama, which created a backlash that included "several plots to murder Obama," according to SPLC.

The numbers of those groups have continued to grow, jumping from 824 in 2010 to 1274 this year, the SPLC said.

'Sovereign citizen' movement

The ailing economy also helped fuel a huge expansion in a subset of the larger Patriot movement — the so-called "sovereign citizens" movement. Followers generally believe they do not have to pay federal taxes or follow most laws. The SPLC estimates some 300,000 Americans are involved in the movement.

In September, the FBI issued a bulletin to law enforcement officials that called "sovereign citizens" a growing domestic threat due to some members' belief that they can use armed force to resist police.

The bulletin noted that sovereigns have killed six law officers since 2000. In one of the more deadly clashes, a shootout in West Memphis, Ark., in 2010 left four people dead including two officers. Terry Nichols, convicted as a conspirator in the Oklahoma City bombing, was a sovereign citizen.

In 2010, a shootout with a member of the group in West Memphis, Arkansas ended with four people dead, including two policemen.

Last month, a Texas man who said he was a sovereign citizen was sentenced to 35 years in prison for repeatedly firing at a police officer trying to arrest him.

A Washington state man, David R. Myrland, was sentenced in December to 40 months in prison for threatening to "arrest" the mayor of Kirkland and other local officials "with deadly force."

Investigators said Myrland sent an e-mail to the mayor warning that "50 or more concerned Citizens will enter your home and arrest you. Do not resist, as these Citizens will be heavily armed."

"As sovereign citizens' numbers grow, so do the chances of contact with law enforcement and, thus, the risks that incidents will end in violence," the FBI said at the time.

From LeStage's point of view, though, the risk comes from the top of government.

If Obama is re-elected this year, "we will probably lose our republic," he said. "We will probably turn into another socialist country."

On his website Modern Militia Movement - RESTORING OUR COUNTRY, ONE PATRIOT AT A TIME, some forum members have raised even more dire concerns about the fall's elections.

"Nov. the 8th should be the start of the next civil war," a member with the username "Thunder" wrote in January. "May GOD guide us safely."

Hate groups, citizen militias surge in U.S. as race and economy fuel tensions
Reuters Mar 9, 2012

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina — The number of hate and anti-government groups in the United States continued to rise last year, fueled by racial tensions, conspiracy theories and anger over economic inequality, according to a report by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The most explosive growth came from the so-called Patriot movement, whose adherents view the federal government as their enemy.

The Patriot movement reached a peak in 1996, a year after right-wing extremist Timothy McVeigh set off a truck bomb outside the Oklahoma City federal building, killing 168 people. McVeigh and a co-conspirator were convicted, and McVeigh was executed.

The number of Patriot groups, a largely rural phenomenon sometimes referred to as the militia movement, increased to 1,274 groups in 2011 from 824 in 2010, the report released on Thursday said.

The number of those organizations has swelled in recent years since the economy slumped into recession and Democratic President Barack Obama, the country's first black president, was elected in 2008, said the law center, which has tracked extremist groups for three decades.

A backlash against federal bail outs of the bank and auto industries, and discredited allegations that Obama was not born in the United States and therefore disqualified to be president, provided believers with the rationale to join such groups, according to the report.

Heated political rhetoric from this year's presidential campaign could attract more adherents, said Mark Potok, senior fellow at the center and editor of the report.

"The campaign season has simply added fuel to the fire," Potok said. These groups vehemently oppose Obama and abhor the possibility that he could be re-elected to a second term in November. "To them, that's a horror show," Potok said. The center counted 1,018 hate groups in the United States last year, up from 1,002 in 2010. The number of groups have been increasing since 2000, when the center counted 602.

Potok said it was hard to gauge how many Americans are members of hate groups, but estimated the number was between 200,000 and 300,000 people.

The U.S. election campaign season has simply added fuel to the fire

The center also estimated that some 300,000 Americans were part of the so-called "sovereign citizens" movement who flout most laws, do not pay federal taxes and even refuse to obtain driver's licenses.

The report's findings echoed comments last month in Washington by the FBI about a growing threat of violence by members of these "sovereign citizen" groups.

Stuart McArthur, deputy assistant director in the FBI's counterterrorism division, told a news conference that routine encounters with police can turn violent "at the drop of a hat." He cited shootings of police officers after routine traffic stops in Arkansas and Texas the past two years.

Convictions of such extremists, mostly for white-collar crimes such as fraud, increased to 18 each in 2010 and 2011 from 10 in 2009, the FBI said.

Most members of hate groups and anti-government organizations have not committed crimes, Potok said. But the center's report highlighted recent examples where authorities accused militia members of plotting violence.

In one case, authorities accused four Georgia members of a militia group of plotting to obtain explosives and produce the deadly toxin ricin, with which they intended to attack government officials.

In Michigan, seven members of a Midwestern militia group called the Hutaree are standing trial on charges that they plotted to kill police to spark a wider insurrection.

The law center also found the number of groups specifically targeting gays and lesbians rose to 27 in 2011 from 17 in 2010, and the number of anti-Muslim groups jumped to 30 from 10.

But the number of so-called "nativist extremist" groups who harass people they suspect of being illegal immigrants appeared to be in decline. The number of those groups dropped to 184 in 2011 from 319 the year before.

The center attributed the decline in part to the push in some states for laws aimed at cracking down on illegal immigrants, the report said. "Nativist groups have lost the wind in their sails as their issue has been co-opted by politicians," Potok said.

The Southern Poverty Law Center was formed in the early 1970s to defend the legal rights of African Americans following the civil rights reforms of the 1960s. It was instrumental in some convictions of members of white supremacist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan for civil rights abuses against blacks. It has broadened to other issues in recent years.

"We'll Find Him": Black Militia Vows Vengeance On White Trayvon Martin Shooter
Mar 20, 2012

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Members of a self-described black militia group will attempt a citizen's arrest on a white neighborhood watch leader who has admitted to fatally shooting an unarmed African-American teen in an Orlando suburb, but has not been charged, a leader of the group said Thursday.

Members of The New Black Liberation Militia (See website here) plan to take 28-year-old George Zimmerman to federal authorities this week since local police haven't acted, said Najee Muhammad, a leader of the militia group.

"We'll find him. We've got his mug shot and everything," Muhammad said.

Out of a population of 54,000, about 57 percent of Sanford residents are white and 31 percent are black, according to the 2010 U.S. Census.

"Trayvon was unarmed when he was shot by Zimmerman," said the online petition, which has been signed by almost 215,000 people. "Please uphold justice."

Why We'd Fear Black Militias

They've found a new double standard

Imagine that the inauguration of President George W. Bush had sparked an explosive rise in African American militia groups. Suppose thousands of heavily armed black men began gathering at training camps in wooded areas throughout the country, devising military tactics for "taking back their country" after what they believed was an electoral coup.

Do you think Bush and Vice President ******** Cheney would have reacted to a black militaristic buildup as coolly as President Obama has to the phenomenal growth of white militias?

Since Obama took office last year, the number of white militias has shot up from about 170 to more than 500, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors extremist groups in the United States. Armed with enough firepower to take on a police department, some of these groups are honing their sniper skills using photographs of Obama for target practice.

They cling to the delusion that the nation's first black president is somehow a subversive working for Muslim extremists, and they aim to bring him down.

"If the people we saw running around armed to the teeth were black, I think their organizations would be destroyed in a matter of hours," Mark Potok, director of the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Project, told me. "If people saw on their TV screens photos of black militia members shooting at images of a white president, I don't think they would last."

First of all there are black armed organizations called street gangs and they're killing more people this hour than any white organization will in the next ten years. We don't see them training in the woods because that requires too much planning and coordination.

But the point may be that street gangs aren't generally political and as far as that goes there is a double standard on the militia issue. There are a few legitimate reasons for this. The first is that whites have a history of responsible firearms use. There are rural parts of America where young children are given guns to take care of. If they tried that in the inner cities they'd need dump trucks to clear the bodies each weekend. We have a prudent fear of black men with guns that no amount of political correctness will ever beat out of us.

The second thing we have to consider is what kind of ideology a black militia would have. Presumably it would be socialist and for forced integration. In contrast to whites with their guns who want to be left alone, looting and aggression would be the raison d'être of any black armed force which thought the Republicans were white supremacists holding them down. We'd fear them more than any group with a libertarian ideology and rightfully so.

U.S. most armed country with 90 guns per 100 people

(Reuters) - The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.

U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world's 875 million known firearms, according to the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies.

About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States, it said.

"There is roughly one firearm for every seven people worldwide. Without the United States, though, this drops to about one firearm per 10 people," it said.

India had the world's second-largest civilian gun arsenal, with an estimated 46 million firearms outside law enforcement and the military, though this represented just four guns per 100 people there. China, ranked third with 40 million privately held guns, had 3 firearms per 100 people.

Germany, France, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil and Russia were next in the ranking of country's overall civilian gun arsenals.

On a per-capita basis, Yemen had the second most heavily armed citizenry behind the United States, with 61 guns per 100 people, followed by Finland with 56, Switzerland with 46, Iraq with 39 and Serbia with 38.

France, Canada, Sweden, Austria and Germany were next, each with about 30 guns per 100 people, while many poorer countries often associated with violence ranked much lower. Nigeria, for instance, had just one gun per 100 people.

"Firearms are very unevenly distributed around the world. The image we have of certain regions such as Africa or Latin America being awash with weapons -- these images are certainly misleading," Small Arms Survey director Keith Krause said.

"Weapons ownership may be correlated with rising levels of wealth, and that means we need to think about future demand in parts of the world where economic growth is giving people larger disposable income," he told a Geneva news conference.

The report, which relied on government data, surveys and media reports to estimate the size of world arsenals, estimated there were 650 million civilian firearms worldwide, and 225 million held by law enforcement and military forces.

Five years ago, the Small Arms Survey had estimated there were a total of just 640 million firearms globally.

"Civilian holdings of weapons worldwide are much larger than we previously believed," Krause said, attributing the increase largely to better research and more data on weapon distribution networks.

Only about 12 percent of civilian weapons are thought to be registered with authorities.

Why Americans think it is right to own guns?

After mass shootings killed 12 moviegoers in Aurora, Colorado, and six Sikh worshippers in Wisconsin this summer, it may seem a little bizarre that many Americans insist people have the right — an inalienable right — to buy a gun that can spit 60 bullets per second.

Yet it is such a deep part of the culture that no event, not these murders or the more ordinary 11,500 other firearm-related homicides that take place every year in the US, not to mention that 17,500 gun-related suicides, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, can dislodge the notion that the ownership of more than 300 million guns makes us safer.

The belief in guns is so strong that solution to gun-related murders is often imagined to be more guns. For example, even after a horrific campus shooting at Virginia Tech in 2007 that resulted in 32 deaths, some politicians pointed to the university's campus-wide gun ban as a contributing factor, on the theory that the problem wasn't that the unbalanced student came to school with two semi-automatic weapons but that students and faculty weren't themselves armed. Nor were they alone: a national student group of over 15,000 members formed asking to overturn laws restricting the use of concealed weapons on campus.

The Right Stuff

The legal foundation of this madness is the Second Amendment to the Constitution, which reads "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

That might not sound like a blanket right to bear arms, and it wasn't intended as such. Fearful of European-style standing armies, the authors of the amendment believed that citizen militias were the only way to prevent tyranny, according to historian Saul Cornell, writing in his 2006 book A Well-Regulated Militia: The Founding Fathers and the Origins of Gun Control in America. Cornell concluded in his study that they saw the amendment as more of a guarantee of a civic obligation than a personal right.

In fact, it's so hard to read as a personal right that it wasn't until 2010 that the Supreme Court successfully overcame the text and with no equivocation ruled that the second amendment meant people had a personal right to keep and bear arms, unconnected to military service.

The truth is that the right to gun ownership is much more securely fixed in our hearts than in our laws — and in recent years, a triumph of the well-organised and well-funded pro-gun lobby. In 1959, when Gallup first asked the question, 60% of people favoured a general handgun ban. Asked recently, it's fallen to 26% — a record low. True, more people support a ban on semiautomatic weapons — 53% — but gun ownership remains high: 47% say they have a gun in their house.

How did this happen? There is a residual love of guns that is a legacy of pioneer days and among rural people, a reflection of an attachment to hunting. Certainly, some people do hunt — a few kids I grew up with out in Oregon hunted. My best friend in junior high would always gnaw on homemade venison for his lunch — salty gray-green stuff that had the consistency of rope.

Every year, a hunters' club offered a hunter's safety course in the evening, after school, which were lectures you needed to pass to get your hunting licence — but the course always sounded a bit boring, like becoming a Boy Scout, and hunting itself was more a hobby some families had, like going to church, not a subject everyone thought about or talked about.

But hunting is not really what's behind the still-growing love of guns. President Obama, as candidate Obama in 2008, in a rare moment of accidental candour once described the residents of dying industrial towns in the Midwest as bitter people who "cling to guns or religion". Although he later recanted, he was right to a certain extent. At the same time, he also missed the point: in the US, guns have become a kind of religion in themselves. 'Power'

In May, 24-year-old James Holmes, a failing University of Colorado student, started buying guns. He bought four guns at Denver-area gun shops, including a 12-gauge Remington 870 Express Tactical shotgun, a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 semi-automatic rifle, and a Glock 22 handgun.

Around the same time, Holmes also began ordering bullets and body armour online — reportedly over 50 packages, according to newspaper accounts. On July 20, he bought a ticket for the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises Again, the latest Batman saga. Then about 20 minutes into the movie, went out to his car, girded himself up with his arsenal, came back and started shooting.

Clint Eastwood once said he made his violent movies to give people hope, imagining a young guy who has a job, maybe cleaning swimming pools, and has no sense of hope for the future. :tsk:

United States incarceration rate

The incarceration rate in the United States of America is the highest in the world. As of 2009, the incarceration rate was 743 per 100,000 of national population (0.743%). In comparison, Canada was 123rd in the world as 117 per 100,000, and China had 120 per 100,000. While Americans only represent about 5 percent of the world's population, nearly one-quarter of the entire world's inmates have been incarcerated in the United States in recent years :tsk:. Imprisonment of America's 2.3 million prisoners, costing $24,000 yearly, and $5.1 billion in new prison construction, consumes $60 billion in budget expenditures. :toilet:

US Debt Piles Up
August 30th, 2012

What a spectacle the world has become...full of farce and morbid hilarity.
The US government just breached the $16 trillion debt threshold. The folks at Zero Hedge tell us it took the government just 286 days to add an additional $1 trillion to the US debt pile. That's $3.5 billion a day. Extrapolating, they tell us US debt will hit:

$17 trillion on June 10, 2013;
"¢$18 trillion on March 23, 2014;
"¢$19 trillion on January 3, 2015; and
"¢$20 trillion on October 16, 2015

Americans Renouncing Citizenship at Record Levels to Protect Wealth
June 25, 2012

NEW YORK -- – America's rich are renouncing their citizenship at record levels -- just to get richer.

Startling new data from Uncle Sam show that defections by Americans are expected to double this year, largely to avoid any stiff tax bills resulting from the proposed 55 percent hike on the rich, as well as the likely Dec. 31 expiration of the Bush-era tax cuts.

As many as 8,000 US citizens are projected by immigration officials to renounce in 2012, or about 154 a week, versus 3,805 in 2011, or about 73 per week.

"High-net-worth individuals are making decisions that having a US passport just isn't worth the cost anymore," according to Jim Duggan, a lawyer at Duggan Bertsch, which specializes in protecting assets of the wealthy. "They're able to do what they do from any place in the world, and they're choosing to do it from places with much lower tax rates."

Duggan added, "Some are philosophically disgusted at the course our country is taking, in all kinds of ways. They're making a strong protest of 'enough is enough.' But largely, it's an economic decision."

There is a catch to reaching tax nirvana. To renounce citizenship, and thus escape any future US taxes forever, a citizen must buy that freedom with a one-time exit tax of 15 percent on the fair-market value of all assets -- including real estate, securities, businesses and personal belongings -- less their basis price.

Duggan said that dozens of tax-haven nations and island regimes around the world eagerly welcome disenchanted rich Americans with quick citizenship, business deals and protections from the US Justice Department and the IRS. Among the popular spots: Australia, Norway, Singapore, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Guernsey and Antigua.

And there is one way to have your cake and eat it, too, he added.

The US possessions in the Caribbean -- St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix -- give a 90 percent tax credit to US citizens living there at least 183 days a year, resulting in an effective tax rate of just 3.5 percent, he said.

the main thing in this news is as below. that is, 1 in 32 Americans there is either in jail or about to visit there :tsk:

According to a US Department of Justice report published in 2006, over 7.2 million people were at that time in prison, on probation, or on parole (released from prison with restrictions) :tsk:. That means roughly 1 in every 32 Americans are held by the justice system ::facepalm:

=> i do remember, i was doing part time MBA in 2010 but i got too much disturbed due to the things, also too many attacks in Australia were going on that time. and at the same time too many from US used to come that university on the days I visit there, and then they used to start discussing something something. one day, I waited for the lecturers/foreigners to come to the main conference lounge and took a monitor of a computer which was put on the side, and then I threw that monitor to the main glasses of the main lounge with full force in front of them all, with my demand for police..... I then had to appear in the main "Downing Center" court of Sydney, but I was released with a warning, (as guided by western politicians, as I guessed.) there i saw, before me there was a woman who was caught with drugs '5th' times but she was also released without any punishment, just on around $300 punishment with warning like me, while drugs bring even death penalty in the country like Indonesia???? and its a surprise that still crime rates is so high in Western countries.........

Over 100 million US residents on welfare
09 August, 2012

Reuters / Eduardo Munoz

Government handouts are designed to help the needy across America, but how many US residents actually reap those benefits? According to a presentation to be delivered in Washington this week, it might be way more than you thought.

Republican Party representatives sitting on the Senate Budget Committee plan to present Congress with their latest findings on welfare programs in the United States this week, and their research reveals that the number of US residents receiving federal assistance isn't only on the up but now is at its highest ever in the history of the country.

According to an excerpt from the committee's new presentation, nearly one-in-three US residents receive government assistance — and that's not even including those benefitting from Social Security or Medicare.

Over 100 million people in the United States are now receiving some form of federal welfare, GOP reps claim, a figure they've found after combing through statistics collected from the US Census's Survey of Income and Program Participation. Paired with recent figures out of the Census Bureau, that brings the percentage of people residing in the States receiving some form or another of federal welfare at nearly one-in-three, given that the country's population is estimated to be around 314 million, according to the department's most recent statistics.

The committee's findings actually put the figure of US residents on welfare close to around 107 million, which appears substantial when compared to statistics from only a few years ago. During the first quarter of 2009 when Barack Obama was inaugurated as president of the United States, roughly 97 million US residents were on the receiving end of federal programs.

And although the committee's research does not take into account Social Security and Medicare, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamps, more than makes up for that exclusion: the study finds that the number of American receiving SNAP benefits have doubled in barely a decade.

"Among the major means tested welfare programs, since 2000 Medicaid has increased from 34 million people to 54 million in 2011 and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program from 17 million to 45 million in 2011," the Senate Budget Committee reports.

we hope these people won't get high tech arms in US

We have received a tip from Loonwatcher Ali that another Muslim institution was attacked yesterday in a possible hate crime, this time in Lombard, Illinois. The prepetrators hurled a 7-Up bottled filled with acid at the school during Ramadan prayers. This is the second attack in as many days in Illinois and underscores a very quick rise in violence across the country.

This is the full text we received from Ali, apparently a press release from a Chicago based organization known as the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago:
Last night the College Preparatory School of America (CPSA), a full time Islamic school in Lombard IL and a member of the CIOGC had a 7-up bottle with acid and other materials thrown at the school during the night time Ramadan Prayers. During the prayer worshippers heard a loud bang outside the school and went out to find an empty bottle thrown on the window of the school, there were no injuries. Lombard police were contacted and a report has been filed, an investigation is in process.

"This is not an isolated incident, a few days ago another CIOGC member institution the Muslim education Center in Morton Grove, IL was also attacked" said CIOGC Associate Director Ahlam Jbara "It is election year and the fear mongering from elected officials such as Representative Joe Walsh creates hate in communities such as Lombard, IL"

Judy Levey, CEO at the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs said, "We are deeply concerned about the recent string of events, which violently target faith minorities, and Muslims in particular. Our own Jewish historical experience of being a minority has taught us of the dangers of stereotyping and demonization a vulnerable community. The Jewish community must not, and will not, stay silent."

On Friday, August 10, 2012 CIOGC held an interfaith press conference calling on Representative Joe Walsh to retract his bigoted statement on Muslim Americans. The faith communities in Illinois stand together against injustices in our State. We will not tolerate hate mongering; discrimination and personal campaign agenda's that create division within our communities.

CIOGC urges DHS, Attorney General Office and other authorities to increase protection and investigation of these violent acts on Muslim institutions.

CIOGC urges Muslim institution to take extra precautions, be vigilent and recruit extra security. Additionally, report the incident immediately to your local police departments and CIOGC.

on the top of that, we always find US's leaders lying about key economic data's of US, like 'Unemployment Rate' etc. check this website again, it shows that 'official' unemployment data of US is around 12mil while actual is around 22.7mil :tsk:

U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time

like the news as below, one of these two US's contesters is lying, find out who????

Romney said the real unemployment rate would be closer to 11%
October 5, 2012

Mitt Romney today released the following statement on the September unemployment report: "This is not what a real recovery looks like. We created fewer jobs in September than in August, and fewer jobs in August than in July, and we've lost over 600,000 manufacturing jobs since President Obama took office. If not for all the people who have simply dropped out of the labor force, the real unemployment rate would be closer to 11%. The results of President Obama's failed policies are staggering – 23 million Americans struggling for work, nearly one in six living in poverty and 47 million people dependent on food stamps to feed themselves and their families. The choice in this election is clear. Under President Obama, we'll get another four years like the last four years. If I'm elected, we will have a real recovery with pro-growth policies that will create 12 million new jobs and rising incomes for everyone."The U.S. unemployment rate "fell" in September to 7.8% last month from 8.1% in August.

After his stunning defeat by Romney, Obama is trying to deceive us all with his "cooked" unemployment figures. Given a $6 trillion spending sprees with which to purchase some kind of economic activity, there is essentially no new infrastructure worth mentioning, the lowest rate of adult employment in 30 years. This news is Obama's "economics on steroids" A deficit of $1.2 trillion a year could be used to pay 24 million people for a salary of $50,000 per year.

I could not be happier for the 114,000 that found jobs. However, what is being done about the 23,000,000 Americans still looking for work. It will take a lifetime for Americans to find a job at this 114,000 jobs rate.

Keeping pace with population growth required 12 million jobs over four years. The U.S. payrolls, obtained in a separate survey of employers, increased by a seasonally adjusted 114,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department said Friday.

Only 114,000 jobs gain and the rate went down? The President Obama keeps saying that things are getting better but if you live in the real world you know that they are not.

If the U.S. economy had gained 500,000 jobs, I would not find as much skepticism. It is widely accepted that the economy must add 300,000 jobs just to break even and keeping pace with population growth . So when you have only 114, 000 jobs added, and a .3% drop in unemployed . Those two numbers do not add up.

That .3% drop should have translated into roughly 500k jobs created. So the difference between 500k and 114k is mostly likely people dropping out of the workforce. Not a good thing.

Labor participation rate continues its slide and many of the jobs added last month were part time. The number of people with part-time jobs who wanted full-time work rose 7.5 percent to 8.6 million.

Continued anemic job growth is the bottom line. In order for unemployment to fall by 0.3% when only 114,000 jobs are added has to mean more people are dropping out of the workforce than expected.

The broader measure they point to of 14.7% understates the magnitude of the unemployment/underemployment because it omits drop outs from the labor pool. We need to add 500,000 jobs a month to pull out of this stall. How about a consistent presentation of data that reflects total workforce, total participation rate, drop outs, underemployed and the employed? (Is it that hard to do?)

How many of those no longer unemployed went to state welfare rolls, Social Security disability, or only have a twice-a-week part time jobs? Will the Obama-friendly media look into that? not quite.

How many of those "new" jobs were jobs were the original employee retired, died, or left the job under legitimate circumstance (woman leaving to raise families, for instance) , and where a "new" employee was hired? That's not a "new job," but just someone taking someone else place.

The U.S economy is poised on the edge of a fiscal cliff leading from unsustainable debt accumulation. The 2012 election will be determined by the economy, US economic conditions are getting worse. President Obama's actions have let down a country. The greatest country in the world. He has failed to lead, to unite and to take this economy back to greatness. He says one thing and has done another constantly. He is a divisive figure who has done absolutely nothing to bring the country together as he promised.

Obama's desire by actions and words is to punish those who either are trying to achieve or have achieved this. The people of this great country deserve better.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan vision represents concepts of liberty, freedom, self-reliance, and responsibility. Clear choice for Americans in 2012 election.

Liberty vs dependence, opportunity vs entitlement. Mitt Romney's strength derives from his solid experience in understanding economy, free enterprise and having the vision to help businesses succeed and create jobs.
Mitt Romney will rebuild the foundations of the American economy on the principles of free enterprise, hard work, and innovation

Mitt Romney's plan:
1. Energy independence
2. Improve education/School choice
3. Make trade work for America
4. Cut the deficit / Balance the budget
5. Champion small businesses and reduce regulations.

President Obama vision for the last four years has basically been to spend more, lots more, and kick the tax bill down the road or claim that the rich people will be forced to pay for it later. This isn't working and the problem is getting worse.

President Obama has a record high poverty rate, record high food-stamp recipients, record high accumulation of National debt, record high foreclosures and record high loss of median family income. Food prices are up 15% . The gas prices has doubled under Obama.

President Obama said if he was elected president, the average American family's yearly health insurance premiums would go down by $2,500. Yearly health insurance premiums have gone UP by more than $2,700 since Obama was elected.

The U.S. lost its perfect AAA credit rating and the U.S slips to number 7 in global competitiveness for business environment under Obama. The U.S Nation's National Security is facing traumatic repercussions from Obama' policies. The U.S Southern border is a sieve, open as a gateway to the most violent criminals.

The US is under siege by terrorist fanatical groups of anarchists across the globe. The attacks on U.S. embassies have escalated across the world. American's and U.S. ambassador killed in Libya

The US economic crisis is rooted in deep government debt and lavishes of government unaffordable and unsustainable basket of social programs on its citizen without regard to there economic or social consequences.

Americans Renouncing Citizenship at Record Levels to Protect Wealth | Fox News Latino
in fact, I think soon all the super rich people of US would think to move to those economies who are stable and are not willing to take their money on the name of tax, just to feed its one third population based on Welfare like in case of US.

US will either have to learn by itself or their high earning people will teach its government in their own way by renouncing their citizenship to get rid of that type of country like US, who just want to punish 'successful' people by taking money from their pockets by taxes to feed its shiits population living on Welfare.......

It has broadened to other issues in recent years.

hmmm, I would say by 2015/17, we would see a type of civil war in US, when people will start looting/ rioting on the streets of US. Majority of US's population is under high school pass but they are habituated of luxury life, welfare/ free medical etc. and as the US's debt is already over its 105% of GDP, so the time it will not be possible any more to borrow and pay for the expanses, bear luxury life of under high school pass people, US will become a joke in world. also, as we know about the 'gun culture' of US where almost half of their population keep guns, so the time they won't get Welfare/ free medical etc, hopefully within 4 to 6 years when US won't be able to borrow any more for their expanses, say at 200% Debt/GDP ratio by 2015/18, it is then very likely that their civilians will start using their arms to rob whoever they will find to bear their daily expanses. :pop:

Also, if we have a look on the number of wars US has organized in world, its obvious that the time they start losing their different wars, then they will be more likely to fight with each other in US itself. Lets see what exactly we will see in our time, as, once the fall of US will star, together with heavily indebted EU economies, where exactly they will stop, no one knows......... Even if russia had so much oil/ gas and natural resources, they suffered so big fall in between 1990 to 1999. but what about US and EU, they dont have oil/ gas to sell to support their economy if they face any fall? where will they stop if they will face a real deep recession?:toilet:

US Debt Piles Up
August 30th, 2012

What a spectacle the world has become...full of farce and morbid hilarity.
The US government just breached the $16 trillion debt threshold. The folks at Zero Hedge tell us it took the government just 286 days to add an additional $1 trillion to the US debt pile. That's $3.5 billion a day. Extrapolating, they tell us US debt will hit:

$17 trillion on June 10, 2013;
"¢$18 trillion on March 23, 2014;
"¢$19 trillion on January 3, 2015; and
"¢$20 trillion on October 16, 2015

The US Debt Piles Up

=> U.S. National Debt Clock

=> U.S. National Debt Clock : Real Time
IIRC Obama's plan to reduce the federal deficit is by increasing the spending by the Obama care, which alone is expected to cost around 1 Tn$. And still middle class voted for that:tsk:

One thing you forget though is that Americans are surprisingly fast learners. I wont be surprised if they correct their mistakes in the next election.

So, I dont think USA is in any trouble anytime soon.

Hmm... among other things US has enough oil for their own consumption I believe. And compared to Europe or Australia in USA the state does not provide generous doles and medical facilities to all and sundry. US, Canada and Australia are sitting on vast lands with low population migrated mainly from European countries. They produce more food than they need and have natural resources as well. The USA in addition is the world leader in technology and science with many of the world's best universities and research facilities.

Read this - US oil production to outstrip Saudi Arabia by 2020 and by 2035 all regions of the world will be increasingly dependent on oil imports except North America. as per a study conducted by study conducted by the International Energy Agency (IEA).

sir, even if Saudi Arabia has this much oil, their per capita income is hardly around $24,000 on PPP while their population is close to 30mil only. then how US will feed its 330mil population, by having enough oil/gas for home consumption only? once they will face a fall like SU's states, like in 90s, it will be really hard to stand for next 10-12 years....... wasn't Russia a super power till 1990 and was continuously selling oil/gas/metal during 90s???

US+EU are trying to change their certain destiny, they are set to reach within next few years, but they are borrowing more to survive for few more years with a hope of a miracle which may change their set Fate
