A typical example of narrowminded mainland Chinese thinking!!!!!

The West consists of many different countries with different policies and ambitions. All these different countries are populated with individuals with different opinions. Unlike Mainland Chinese we are not slaves of our governments. Our governments depend on our votes. The same with the Taiwanese government.

So whether the Taiwanese want it or not they must accept to become Chinese slaves?
Chinese people aren't slaves to their government, they make money, and fulfill their wants with the money they earn, and pay taxes along the way. Just like you do. That doesn't make you any less of a 'slave to the state' than them. Law-abiding Chinese have all the fun they can afford, again, just like you. "Free speech" and other spoils of democracy aren't really worth it as a luxury in return for instability in the state, especially when the Chinese state is faring brilliantly, economic development wise.

A small minority of Chinese are able to fullfill their wants with the money they earn. For different reasons they may see free speech and democracy as luxury. E.g they may lack the intellectual capacity of independent thinking. Or they are just too interested in making money. They may also see democracy as a threat to their privileged positions. As far as I know they do not pay much taxes. At least not at all as much as we do to maintain the welfare system in my country. So most Chinese have no chance to get higher education, health care or reasonable economic conditions when they get old.

It is ironic that a country where solidarity with poor citizens (which is the majority) is just about non-existant, calls itself socialist.

Did I say you are brainwashed? If so i apologise. Because of course I cannot know. It seems obvious to me that you are affected by Chinese mainland way of thinking, which is very narrowminded in my opinion - especially lots of prejudices against "the white man". But I definitely do not deny your equality in discussion. I understand that you are living in the West and have become rather used of being treated like a free person with your personal opinions. But will you deny - as I wrote - that mainland Chinese have been subjected to brainwash for generations and even today most of them do not get objectiv information?
When you talk to a chinese, you use "brainwash". He will interpret it as that you are implying what ever he said is lie. Obviously, this won't help the archivement of talk. After all, the things you read about china are the thing they live with. Of course, if you just want to express the hatre to CCP, that is another story.

Yes, they are brainwashed just as you. They can a part of truth and you get another part of truth. In china, CCP only tell the information they want to give. In west, the strategy is more subtle: they may tell the whole story, but they will make you focus on the important part while use contigent language to make you igore other part of truth. For most of people, after several month, they can only remember the opinion of the mainstream media.

Victor Chen and Broad Wu were the famous Chinese who "voted with their feet" to subvert their government.

In 209BC,They both led the first nation-wide rebel of common people aganst the rule of tyrants of Qin Empire.

Although Victor Chen and Broad WU failed and got killed by the governmental troops, their successors succeeded in subverting the tyraannical Qin Empire.

those are the great terra-cotta Warriors guarding the tomb of Qinshihuang, the first emperor of Qin Empire.

Qinshihuang owned the most powerful troops in the world at that time and thought that the rule of the empire could last forever.

However,after Qinshihuang died in 211 BC,the powerful-looking empire imploded in 3 years.

"the vote with feet" led by Victor Chen and Broad WU now is the nightmare and warning for all following chinese rulers.

How about your thinking?
You are unhappy with the CCP, then Chinese should be unhappy with CCP, too. If they are not, then they are brainwashed, they are slaves to CCP.

It is up to the Chinese to decide for themselves. But as they are not allowed to express themselves we cannot know what they really want.

But the Taiwanese have clearly expressed they will not accept CCP rule. So will you answer my question? Do they have to give up their freedom?

well, it should be up to the wise people to rule the county, espeicaly when the country is under rapid transpform from traditional society to moder society.

the view of majorty always pay more attention to short-term interest more than long-term interest .

only wise men ,not the "democary"can lead the country though the rapid transform of the anqiue coutry.

so, dear yuebaili, don't you feel frustrated that most chinese here don't buy your "democracy"?

I don't buy your "deomocracy",not because I don't know it,but because I know it too well.

I asked about the Taiwanese people. Not the Chinese. Do they have to submit themselves to dictatorship?

oh,they will.....taiwanese will......money talks......

history proves that any ideology can not stand too long against the chance of earning money.......

yuebaili, ideology is just like “cholesterin" and its effection can not last too long.

once one Ideology collides with the chance of earning more money, the charm of the ideolog always fades soon.

that is why communism fade now...:blum3:

economy is the base and the ideoloy is just one upper building on it.
economy collapses, then ideology also collapses.

Yes. I have read about Qinshihuang and also about Chen Sheng and Wu Guang. But I was unfamiliar with their English names.

But your post makes me curios; What kind of warning do you think their example is to Chinese rulers?
The Chinese empire fell apart because the Qin dynasty did not respect the people. So to avoid this, wouldn´t democracy be a good idea today?

It should be read as I can't buy it. Because CCP does not allow this, or else Tinamen square will be repeated.

No. I just want Chinese people to realise the truth. But as long as we can not express our opinions in Chinese media this is very difficult. So I find it very frustrating that I can only discuss with a tiny privileged Chinese minority who have access both to Chinese and western media but stubbornly refuses to condemn the ongoing brainwash and lack of freedom of the vast Chinese majority.

China has given rare details of what is says are the links between militant groups in its far western region of Xinjiang and neighbouring countries, most likely Pakistan, as it unveiled a list of six wanted suspects.

The ministry of public security published the names of the suspects on its website late on Thursday, along with their photographs and an outline of their alleged crimes.

All six, apparently ethnic Uighurs, had spent time in what the ministry called "a certain south Asian country" - a likely reference to Pakistan - where they were trained to carry out terror attacks and incited militants in China to carry out suicide bombings and knife attacks.

The Xinjiang Perspective: Part II

I witnessed a Chinese mother allowing her child to urinate on the grounds of a historical Uyghur tomb complex, right outside a mosque. I heard a Chinese realtor explain that it is difficult for outsiders to live in Uyghur neighborhoods, as locals are dirty and their bodies emit a strong odor. At a museum exhibit on various ethnic groups in Xinjiang, I saw a tour guide point out the "traditional green hats worn by Uyghurs in Turpan," only to subsequently joke that "you know what we Chinese say about wearing green hats." Everyone in the tour group laughed heartily at the slang reference to having an affair.
