After launching app based international calling at affordable pricing, Ringo has now introduced low-cost local calling within India. Claiming to be the cheapest in the country, Ringo app offers local calling at 19 paise per minute. It can be used for making calls on mobile phone as well as landline and users will not incur any additional charges such as roaming charges.

Instead of VoIP calls, which most of the app based calling service use, Ringo claims to use telephone network instead of mobile data or Internet for a phone call. This service can be used to call even those who do not have Ringo app installed on their smartphones. According to the company, at 19 paise, it is 90 per cent cheaper than most carriers and 25 per cent cheaper than the most popular calling apps that are Internet based.

Ringo does't work like a regular call. Instead, the user places a call request by simply tapping on the contact from the app. Within seconds, Ringo calls the user first and then connect to the contact. In this process, Ringo doesn't even use local call minutes on the user's mobile.

Bhavin Turakhia, CEO and Founder of Ringo, says, "Our vision has been to make calling across the globe simple, seamless and low-cost for the masses. Our local calling service is not only the cheapest in India right now, but it is also free of typical telecom-related hassles such as STD charges and differential pricing. In a country where 3G penetration is not fairly high throughout, we also have a strong edge over Internet telephony apps, as Ringo calls do not use data, and are comparable in price."

The app offers 50 minutes of free talk time to every user who installs the app for the first time, and 50 additional minutes for every friend a user refers to Ringo.
