Heavy artillery should be removed from the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan has suggested to India during the two-day talks being held in Islamabad on conventional and nuclear confidence building measures (CBMs), a media report said on Tuesday.

After a gap of four years, Pakistan and India on Monday held talks on conventional CBMs, while discussions on nuclear CBMs were held on Tuesday.
The talks are the first formal engagement since Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani met his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in the Maldives at the SAARC summit meeting early in November.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Pakistan made the proposal on removing heavy artillery on Monday.

Islamabad suggested that artillery of greater than 120 mm be moved 30 km from the LoC. The LoC divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

The expert-level meeting on nuclear and conventional CBMs is being held after a gap of four years.

YK Sinha, joint secretary in charge of Pakistan desk in external affairs ministry, is leading the Indian side at the talks on conventional CBMs. The talks on nuclear CBMs were led by Venkatesh Verma, joint secretary in charge of disarmament in external affairs ministry.

Munawar Saeed Bhatti, additional secretary in Pakistan's ministry of foreign affairs, heads the Pakistan delegation for both expert groups.

Pakistan and India resumed in February early this year their dialogue process that was stalled after the Nov 26, 2008 Mumbai terror attack perpetrated by Pakistani terrorists.

...and declare Indian Kashmir as an integral part of Pakistan's ancient civilization and apologize formally to all the Pakis in a live international conference.

On the contrary, we should station so much weaponry there, that they aren't able to take a step back in peace. Strangle them by arms race, forcing them to stay eyeball-to-eyeball. Keep this up for some years, and squeeze them.

First the pukes must remove their soldiers and anti-INDIAN terrorists from PoK and give back PoK to INDIA and then ask for anything.

I am afraid lest this government gives in.... To trust Congress any more than trusting Pakis is foolish. I trust MMS and Madam Maino as much as Hafiz Saeed.

5 mm Water Pistols, 7.6 mm Water Rifels, 12.6 mm Water Cannons, 20 mm Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun and Long Range Water Balloons. This is what Pakis wants us to deploy at LoC.

40 mm mortar :frusty:
They are requesting to remove 155mm Bofors..

Which they fear as god in those Mountains..

If 155mm Removed, 105mm IFG and 120mm & 81mm Mortar will be active.. Ranges till 17kms most..

but i do not think we are going to move any gun much at all :)

this clearly means that our guns are effective against infiltration and pakis are scared of them.

what do u say bro?

GoI should accept this proposal ...as only guns IA has over 120mm are either vintage (D-30 and M-46) or useless such as Haubits FH77/B (commonly known as Bofors) due to maintenance problem (even though OFB has received full ToT, fcuk)....and only field gun produced by OFB is of 105mm (no name).
P.S. : GoI/MoD is not obliged to follow my words

On a Serious note, why don't we put these HEAVY GUNS into their gay A$$ ..what say porkis ..fcuking back stabbers ..if GoI except these proposal we can surely accept another Kargil soon

One must realise that if the artillery is pulled back, while deployment would not be a problem as such, yet, one has to take into account the activities that will take place when the balloon goes up and the road space available to move artillery, other equipment, supplies etc.

It must be remembered that the roads could be interdicted by terrorist lying low sent in right before the hostilities so as to delay and subvert the movement.

We trusted them with all the Lahore Bus Peace activities and we were given Kargil.

One should not make the mistake again.

The artillery as it is, is not used for Counter Terrorism, so why is Pakistan so keen on the artillery being moved back?
