We see that religion has always caused trouble. I am not talking about political issues couched as religious issues, but religion in itself (as an independent force) has always been a problem. Suppose you connect terrorism with Islam (or sati with Hinduism etc.), religious people become defensive and say, "That's not true Islam. That's not true Hinduism."

Fact is, religious sanction is given to bad things - so religious people can't get away with it by saying, That's not true religion. So I am really annoyed by the way religious people take credit for good things - if someone invents penicillin, Christians take credit as if Christianity directly contributed to penicillin. But the same Christians will cleverly ignore witch-hunting, inquisitions - even though all these things were done with Christian sanction.

In short, religious people are not only violent and superstitious but also a hypocritical bunch. Hopefully, with the efforts of great minds like Dawkins, religion will some day disappear from this world. That day will be a glorious day for humanity.

Religion is the greatest poison and you have most comprehensively articulated the issue.

    Thanks.
