Intelligence agencies of the US, Bangladesh and Singapore gathered information about the training of Rohingya Muslim radicals in a Lashkar-e-Taiba camp in Pakistan last May, top government sources said, even as R&AW has identified Rohingya-Buddhist violence in Myanmar as an emerging counter-terrorism challenge.

The R&AW (Research and Analysis Wing) note circulated to the highest levels in the government in January indicated the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was trying to establish a toehold in Myanmar's Arakan area by building a forum called Difa e Musalman Arakan (Burma) and mobilising a cadre to fight the Myanmar government.

The note spelt out the links between Rohingya radicals with terrorist groups like the LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) of Pakistan, and Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami and Jamaat-e-Mujahideen of Bangladesh.

The note said LeT leaders including Hafiz Saeed were discussing plans to target Myanmar because they felt that the government there was responsible for the plight of Muslims in that country.

Three forces inimical to India — Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, LeT and JeM — had stepped up operations in the Rohingya belt of Bangladesh's Chittagong Hill Tracts and a new organisation called Jammat-ul-Arakan had been floated by the extremists, who were running training camps in remote Bandarban district of Bangladesh, adjoining Myanmar.

The note added that Rohingya radicals were receiving funds mainly from Saudi Arabia and training from Pakistan-based operatives, and weapons were being sourced from Thailand.

From Myanmar to Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Faced with persecution in Myanmar, hundreds of Rohingya Muslims have taken refuge in Hyderabad, apart from several other Indian cities. The trickling of the Rohingyas to the southern city began in 2012 and reports say there could be more than 1,200 Rohingyas in Hyderabad now — in parts of the old city — with most of them engaged in petty jobs.

Meanwhile, police officials in Andhra Pradesh said no link had been established to link the Bodhgaya blasts and those in Hyderabad in February. "We have not come across any such connection. Any comment now would be totally premature," an intelligence official told HT.

There is this grand idea amongst the semi-educated sections of the Islamic world that 'Jihad' or armed insurrection is the answer to all the injustice faced by the muslims. Now we know that even the elite, Western schooled elites too have similar notions.

Let's be objective about the situation in Myanmar.

The Burmese have always been a brutal race. I'm not sure how many here would have read about the Burmese invasion of Assam in early 1800s. Everytime they invaded they ended up conducting a brutal massacre of the civilian population, in addition to plundering all the local wealth. Hell, they even followed scortched earth policy to prevent civilians from returning to their earlier lands.

Its safe to say their violent inclinations haven't been completely disposed off.

The problem now is that Absolute Paranoia has engraved itself into the minds of the Burmese Buddhists, civilian and military alike. The early armed attempts by the Rohingya Muslims to have a seperate nation ensured that the muslims enabled this.

Now we have the peculiar spectacle of paranoid, vengeful civilians baying for the blood of Rohingya while the ultra-paranoid generals using this to improve the image of the military. Both willing partners in the massacre of the muslims. Its almost a miracle that this crisis has not descended to full blown genocide as yet.

And now to this simmering mix, the great Pak Jihad specialists want to introduce armed insurrection against the Burmese state. Whats worse, the best idea they come up is that a few Rohingya muslims will be trained in Pak. This is what is likely to happen next...

The newly trained Jihadists return and conduct attacks on the Burmese army/civilians. Some are successful, and Burmese state suffers casualties

Now please run through the following options and decide for yourself which one is more than likely to happen next..

A) The Burmese shiver with fear and stop all hostilities. The very thought of taking on the Jihadists ( Bear in mind that these fresh holy warriors will number in the hundreds, at best.) The new holy warriors achieve a spectacular victory

B) The paranoid Burmese state, fearful of every single Muslim as a potential insurgent, goes on a brutal campaign against the muslims, taking out their entire fury on the innocents. A massacre ensues.

The facts on the ground seem to point to the second option as a more likely one. Please keep in mind that the it will be very difficult to supply the insurgency with the steady stream of funds, weapons and explosives needed to sustain the insurgency. The Kachin rebels could be a source, but neither geography nor finances of the Kachin rebels does favours any large scale supplies of assets to the Rohingyas.

Without these, the Rohingyas will run out of bullets after two or three attacks. After that, the fury of the Burmese retaliation.....Scary thought.

Someone needs to understand that Jihad has hurt muslims more than any other infidel conspiracy.

Anyone can guess from hyper activity of Pakistani media and their special interest when they doctored those photographs last year that ISI is at work.

Pakistan media = ISI mouth piece.

Those who invest money in Pakistan should know that the same money will be used to create chaos elsewhere.

A nation who fails many HDI standings every year can utilize it's resources for jihad and sabotage is a serious threat to world peace. May be it is quite cheap to brainwash, use and train vulnerable Muslims given terror industry is well establish in Pakistan since Russian invasion of Afghanistan, one may wonder ?

In Indian Punjab there is a saying that worst crime of Humanity is to put someone in harm's way after brain washing him.

Why am I not surprised? I knew this even before reading the first paragraph.

Root cause is not Pakistan. See above. Pakistan only provides the foot soldiers. They are of our own kind. If only these brainwashed souls could be rescued from those Saudi devils.

The whole issue of terrorism is not a Muslim issue.

It is an issue of Saudi inspired and funded Wahhabi menace.

Muslims and Wahhabi are two different things!

I agree. Not the Pakis, but the "House of Saud" princes & Saudi clerics are fountainhead of all terrorism is the world. Someone needs to fix these maniacs.

Anyway, we know that no one can strike at the head of this evil unless Unkil's patronage is done away with.

Having said that, without a paranoid Paki establishment in this region, Saudis cannot enforce their agenda upon nation's this far.

Dada, SA might be the command center, but Pak is the barracks. Without the pak created enforcers, the SA commanders are nothing but cranky philosophers.

It is in unkils interest that arabs remain jahil and not pose any "real" threat to them and that can only come through science so these barbarian saudis keep there population away from science and close to retarded fatwas. When the oil finishes saudis will fly to the west and the remaining population will go back to fishing and selling khajoors.
