The link: Rahul Gandhi aide's bill on media regulation sparks criticism

Looks like Congress is really worried with personal freedom these days.

This one is from Justice Katju:

I do not understand why this issue has picked up so much in the last few days. Katju has given his views on this issue even earlier and lately he criticized the social media in the AMS controversy.

This is the paternalistic view being put forth by all of our leaders. The individuals are rational enough to decide what they want to see on the news channel. Free society works on the premise that people are rational, else there is no reason to give them the right to vote. I believe even if the media cannot self-regulate, people always have the option of deciding what to see and what not to see. Leave it to the people.

This was a trial balloon floated by a junior MP. If the reaction had been muted or would not have generated such heat, the I&B ministry would have promptly introduced a similar bill.

If one has no control of a 'close aide', then the person is a chump and totally devoid of leadership qualities, let alone possessing communication skills!
