While Congress as a family run organisation depends on Nehru family members for leading them, BJP has a problem of plenty with multiple aspirants for the top position! Moreover most of the top Congress leaders are mired in corruption charges. In such a situation if Rahul Gandhi takes up the PM chair, he will be saddled with the tag of losing leader, especially after his losing streak in state elections. So better he waits out the next election cycle and take the plunge by 2019 - by which time he will be closer fifty than forty. Does he have the determination and resolve to wait it out ? Read on...

Debate : Rahul Gandhi should join the government and become a minister

    http://www.firstpost.com/debates/rahul-gandhi-should-join-the-government-and-become-a-minister_results.html?unid=20120629120323

I personally think he should be made to join the Govt and prove his administrative credentials before he aspires for the top jobb in the country. Cant have an absolute greenhorn whose profile as an MP is anything but good to occupy the top post of the country without giving a chance to prove himself.

He could join as a Minister.

Not many days left for 2014.

He surely be able to hang around without much ado and gain some experience.

Wouldn't make much difference either way. However, it is unwise to write someone off absolutely as in life there are no fatal failures or absolute victories, therefore, the CONgis should give him a berth.

He knows his capabilities (or the lack thereof) and wouldn't join any post that will measure his competence. He and his mother authorities will continue as extra legal authorities with all the power and no responsibilities.

Rahul Gandhi should definitely join the govt before 2014 and gain some experience. Congis will then also be able to claim he is being `promoted` on the job to PM post and not being imposed to display their `inner party democracy`... :)

Rahul Gandhi was HOPING and dreaming that when Congress wins UP
he would automatically become the PM

But peope of UP gave him such a sweet blow that he has stopped coming
    out from his home

Any way it is too late now
In Which portfolio or ministry can he be really useful now

He should have started as a MOS in 2004 and then become a Cabinet Minister in 2009

EIther He lacks confidence or is just too arrogant , that he wants ONLY the PM 's job

No SIr that is a fact

If you remember his supporters prior to the UP elections were
drumming up support for a change of leadership or bringing in a YOUNG leader

That was all a well orchestrated drama for Rahul becoming the PM

But Congress's loss in UP has upset their apple cart

If Rahul really wanted to become a succesful adminstrator he should have taken up
some REAL experience in the 8 years of UPA's rule

That is why I will repeat that
EIther He lacks confidence or is just too arrogant ; and that he ONLY wants the PM 's job

One should not always believe the chamchas who infest the Congress.

I believe just recently SM Krishna has also joined this chorus!
