SpotterRF today announced availability of the Spotter Radar Backpack Kit (RBK). The world's first complete radar backpack kit takes only 3 minutes to set up from "pack to track" and weighs less than 20 pounds, including: two M600C radars, a Network Hub, tablet, 2590 battery, tripod, cables and a three-day backpack. This breakthrough compact surveillance radar system provides wide area intrusion detection of more than 150 acres and 90 degrees per radar unit regardless of weather conditions or visibility.

To achieve such rapid setup, SpotterRF's new Network Hub automatically detects and manages attached radars for 360 degree coverage, and provides a secure Web-based user interface compatible with PCs, Android tablets and smart phones. Setup time is further decreased by a new Digital Compass option that automatically determines the radar's orientation.

"This unique kit dramatically enhances situational awareness with minimal change in weight and training," says Logan Harris, CEO for SpotterRF. "Until recently, radar surveillance was only available for large force protection systems like BETSS-C or G-BOSS. Now, every warfighter can have radar. This is truly a force multiplier for small combat outposts."

The Spotter Radar Backpack Kit was developed in response to military directives to focus on protecting the soldier on the ground. SpotterRF cutting-edge technology makes the kit ultra-portable and cost-effective for small force situational awareness, counter insurgency efforts and other forward operating base missions.

According to an article by Eric Beidel for the National Defense Industrial Association, ""¦Army leaders say soldiers are the service's greatest weapon, and they are asking industry to shift their focus from platform to person and consider the infantryman first as it plans investments in new technology."

Spotter radar units come in four sizes, weighing less than 4 lbs. each, using less energy than a light bulb (just 10W each), and can communicate with Google Earth, RaptorX, Falconview and other situational awareness software. Training takes less than 30 minutes in the field.

How long does battery last before a recharge is needed?

why do u need portable radar when you have portable UAV's? :hmm:

a clean thermal and infrared sweep by portable UAV's can highlight any enemy movements in the area, beyond 150 acres.

Possibility that a UAV can be spotted plus battery issue as you will have to power not only the radar but also the UAV...also present battery technology cannot keep the UAV up for long.
