The Russian President has pulled out of a scheduled visit to Pakistan, just days before he was expected in Islamabad.:taunt::taunt::taunt::taunt::taunt:

As a result the Quadrilateral Summit to be attended by delegations from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, and hosted in the capital, has also had to be put off. The move marks a setback to Pakistan, which for the last four years has been trying to carve out a deeper relationship with Russia and which has seen the President make numerous trips to Moscow. The disappointment over President Putin's cancelled visit will also be due to the cancellation of the summit, which was expected to yield positive results in its effort to encourage a broad based settlement in Afghanistan, after the withdrawal of Nato troops.

President Putin's regret was conveyed in a letter to his Pakistani counterpart, through the Foreign Office, which released only part of the said document; giving rise to speculation that other portions of the communiqué may not have been couched in diplomatic enough language to offset the impression of a brush-off. What was released made clear that some clear reasons prompted President Putin's change of schedule. The sluggishness of the Pakistani side in facilitating the Russian offer of helping build the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline, not enough tangible economic process, despite multiple memorandums and agreements and lastly perhaps discouragement from our Eastern neighbour, who itself enjoys long-established and friendly relations with Russia, already. Developing and strengthening relations with the Central Asian Republics and Russia has been one of the clear interests of President Zardari in the last four years. Seen on a map, his visits and tours to these areas verify the interest. President Putin's visit was being anticipated as a win for the Pakistani Foreign Office and perhaps a tentative step forward for a better image for Pakistan's engagement on the world stage.
There is no doubt that the cancellation of the trip has been a disappointment, and where the credit for it happening would have fallen to the FO, its cancellation does too. Pakistan, which has been a US ally since its independence, when its first Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, chose to visit the USA instead of the USSR, despite the latter issuing an invitation first, now does not enjoy the same trusting relationship with the US as it once did. Thus, in pursuit of a more balanced foreign policy and seeing the logical regional interests of Russia in post-war Afghanistan, Russia and Pakistan seemed naturally destined to increase cooperation. One hopes that the cancellation was temporary and Pakistan will not have to wait long to welcome a head of state from Russia for the first time to Islamabad.

If Russia maintains its presence in Pakistan , I hope , India has a very strong chance of intelligence/information gathering and sharing b/w Russia-India. India should be happy. After all Russia is going to balance and counter USA and it will tilt USA towards India and thus either India will be in better position or Pakistan will become a wear and tear b/w international politics b/w all pulls from different directions :D

Like I mentioned some days back, this whole "Putin visit" drama was just an H&D saving exercise by the Paki nation, as usual.

The Hindu : Today's Paper / OPINION : Still waiting for the bear hug

Russian diplomats say that Mr. Putin's visit was indeed discussed but insist it was not cancelled simply because it was never confirmed in the first place.
Just like this news:

http://tribune.com.pk/story/443020/linkedin-denies-plans-to-enter-pakistan/

International professional social networking website – LinkedIn – denied on Wednesday that it was planning open a local office in Pakistan.

LinkedIn refuted the claims of a story filed by the state-owned wire service Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), which quoted the Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla saying that Linkedin was planning to establish its offices in Pakistan and invest $10 million by the end of 2012 or the beginning of 2013.

"While we are exploring some commercial opportunities in Pakistan, we currently have no plans to open a local office," LinkedIn spokesperson Darain Faraz told The Express Tribune.

While the firm that handles global public relations activities for the professional networking website, Edelman also denied the head of the BOI's claims, saying that Linkedin's plans are stated inaccurately in the APP story.
Pakis are known for this - making up stories to salvage their H&D. With absolutely no good news in their country, they are known to make up tales of this kind just as an H&D saving gesture. I could give dozens of examples like this.

H&D for Pak, come on even sex worker have H&D, Pak has non, if this is not the case then why are they allowing foreigners (usa and talibs killing their people in drone and daily bomb blasts). Armies of USA, NATO, saudi, PLA are based in Pak, not to mention talibs and TTP all over Pak, ready to attack on will.
I think Putin did the right thing by not going to Pak, which is lost cause. World is paying attention due to nukes and its terrorists, or else country is not even worth wasting even a minute.

Pakistanis make claims to prove a point to India and troll all the time. I remember they exaggerated deals signed in some billions with China on Chinese premier's visit which was never the case.

@farhan you must be agree with me when i say, Pakistan dont have a future, in years time or less it will be divided into small independat state, may be some of the area would be murged within the states around it.

Putin is a far more decisive politician and leader than the average joe Obama, Cameron and the like. He knows exactly whom to hit and how to hit. Ex-KGB, as we all know. This cancellation was a slap in the face for Pakistan. Huge cheers for India and we should reciprocate.
