With all due respect, some moderation in posting classified information is always good. As per the recent estimates, 90% of intelligence collection is open source based - mostly from blogs, forums, bulletin boards etc. It explains why many bloggers in China are going to jail, bulletin boards are being taken down etc. Ironically, the most intrusive intelligence collection happens from Khan-land not from the Garrison Dictatorship of Chicom.
90 that doesnt matter much and remaining 10 thats what really matters most. :eyebrows:

info from blogs or forums or others could be total rubbish, who makes plans based on info from blogs,

if 90 intelligence can be done on internet,

why the big spending on intelligence ??? why to give hugh budget to intelligence ???

what china do or does its just political, they dont want fingers pointing to the party.

Those who are being light-hearted about @uoftotaku 's comment, might like to recall the IA's order about not using SM for its personnel posted in sensitive areas. Guess why that was issued? Because people are careless often enough to post or comment something which may sound innocuous to him/her, but may be revealing more than what it apparently seem. Therefore, when you guys are right to take it lightly as most with a brain who are in the know of any secret regarding armed forces would keep quite, some who may have a 2nd hand or 3rd hand knowledge may share something for simple one-upmanship which can turn out right and damage national interest. Don't you think it is always better to safe than be sorry later.

Btw, this forum indeed may have someone taking a peek now and then to pick up the temperature in national scale, tid-bits, hearsay or rumours about from armed forces to politics, and if you notice then you would find a few members do predict moves in politics arena. This may not be as big as BR, but it is not a small fish either when comes to the particular audience it gets. Also, this forum has members from other forums and vise versa, and word spreads.

So, I may sound stupid, but being careful never hurt anyone. Being extra careful cannot hurt either.

There is something called common sense and deductive reasoning.

If DRDO and Army decide to call out FMBT as a 55 ton tank with 105mm main gun with 4rpm. Do you think Pakistan will buy that? When you (not you specifically) keep calling LCA is a Mig-21++ fighter, do you think PAF is going gaga over this? When you keep mentioning the range of A5 and Brahmos is 5000km and 300km respectively, do think Chinese are thinking the same?
When our retired agenda generals keep harping that Arjun lack strategic mobility, you won't hear loud cheers from Pindi.

Pakistan naval intelligence is probably working 24/7 to understand P-15A/B. Since they are actual naval officers they can also make the very simple observation. Don't you think so?

Most people here are experienced at this game. Me personally since 2007. No one is going to post sensitive info on the forum but no one is also going to believe every word the govt. is saying because then this platform will turn into a very useless one.

Kolkata will have 32 Cruise missiles ( mix of Brahmos & Nirbhay) + 48 LR SAMs &16 SHORAD units + 4CIWS+ 76 Super rapid.

"Koltakata"? Really? I never take this guy seriously.
However, on a serious note, they are actually working on the BrahMos-NG, which is half the weight of the original BrahMos.
Maybe this upgrade on the Kolkata would be possible in a couple of years if they choose to spend some money and refit it.

The P-15Bs (and P-17A) are meant to get the 127mm main gun(not 76mm SRGM), now with the (stupid) blacklisting of Finnemmca who knows?

The 76mm quoted is the replacement for the 127MM OTO MELARA VULCANO originally expected.

If the OTO 127mm guns aren't coming then the L2 contender will be contacted, the IN wants 127mm guns on their next gen large surface warships, 76mm for them would be utterly woeful.

New Navy destroyer to be named after Goa port

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's home state of Goa is set to find a permanent place in India’s naval history as the Navy’s next destroyer would be named INS Mormugao, after the state’s main port.

On September 17, INS Mormugao will set sail from Mazgaon dock in Mumbai for sea trial, which is likely to continue for close to two years before the 7300-tonne warship with Barak-8 long-range missiles is inducted into the Navy.

The ship has been named after Goa's picturesque main port, which featured in several movies.

From the days of the Portuguese and the Sultans of Bijapur, the port city has a rich history, which the Navy felt would put the Goan city in the same league as Kochi or Mysuru, which found a place in the Navy’s hall of fame.

Almost 15 years ago, when the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government cleared indigenous construction of a large number of guided missile destroyers with advanced features as a follow up to the Delhi-class destroyers, it was planned to name them after state capitals like Kolkata and Chennai.

The scheme was later modified by the UPA government that also incorporated coastal cities into the nomenclature.

As a result, the first three ships under the Project-15A were named as INS Kolkata, INS Kochi and INS Chennai. The first ship, INS Kolkata, was commissioned in August 2014.

Since both Kolkata and Chennai are also important ports, besides being state capitals, they fit the nomenclature either way.

In the next batch, four ships under Project-15B are planned at a cost of Rs 29,345 crore. The first one, INS Visakhapatnam, was launched in April 2015 and will be commissioned by 2018.

INS Mormugao is the next one in the line, to be followed by INS Paradip (representing Odisha), while the last ship in the series would be named after a coastal city in Gujarat, which has the longest coastline among the states.

EXCLUSIVE: 1st Official Data On India’s P15B Destroyers

The slides you’re looking at here happen to be the first officially-released schematics on theProject 15 Bravo stealth destroyers under build for the Indian Navy. The Directorate of Naval Design (DND), which briefed reporters today about the launch of the second vessel in the class, Mormugao, has provided the first detailed look at the P15B, christened the Visakhapatnam class, as first reported by Livefist last year. Livefist had scooped the first image of the lead of the class.

The Visakhapatnam-class represents a terrific step ahead for Indian shipbuilding and establishes once again the country’s prowess in designing, developing, building and fielding frontline surface combatants. More on the class and the 39 other ships being build across the country for the Indian Navy soon.

A glimpse of Navy's stealth destroyer 'Mormugao' to be launched this Saturday

Come this Saturday and another warship for the Indian Navy will taste sea-waters. This time, it will be Mormugao, a stealth destroyer of the Visakhapatnam Class, that will be launched at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL).

This 7,300 tonnes Mormugao is the second ship being constructed at MDL under Project 15B, the first was Visakhapatnam, which was launched on April 20 in 2015.

"This Saturday, the second ship that has being named as Mormugao will be launched ahead of its schedule. During the launch ceremony, the hull of the ship, will be floated on water for the first time. It is a milestone event for any vessel," said commander Rahul Sinha, spokesperson of Indian Navy.

MDL is also constructing four follow-on destroyers, christened as P-15B. Admiral Sunil Lanba, chief of Naval Staff, will be the chief guest at the function. The destroyer will be fitted with Barak-8 long range missiles after it gets ready.

Post the launch, the bridge will be constructed during the next one year. "Detailed design of the futuristic stealth frigates, P17A is currently in progress. Work on this will commence in early 2017. This will be the first time, MDL will be using the integrated construction methodology by leveraging the new infrastructure in the yard. This will be a paradigm shift in the way ships will be built in India in the years to come," added Sinha.
