Probing corruption charge against Virbhadra Singh: CBI tells Delhi HC

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted before the Delhi High Court that it has received a complaint against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on allegations of corruption during his tenure as the Union Steel Minister.

The CBI also told the court that it has begun its investigation in the case. Senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan, in his arguments, had said that despite complaint being sent to CBI and Chief Vigilance Commission in January this year, nothing had been done.

Virbhadra Singh faces the allegation that he submitted revised income tax returns for 2009-10 showing increase of over Rs 6 crore in income. The original IT returns had shown only Rs 7 lakh as income.

The high court told the CBI to conduct its inquiry and submit the report by February.

It appears that unless the Court takes action, India goes to sleep!

It is another story that even with the Courts being active, the case will drag on and then finally be forgotten!
