One wonders if Mr Mukherjee was that powerful a person as to be capable of making the PM his puppet and ensure that there is total chaos in governance, whereby the UPA and the Congress appear to be 'blessed' with a Death Wish.

Political parties even if they cause the biggest flap, tend to dress of the events as if it were a success. That is why this policy paralysis and economic chaos is being blamed on everyone and every Nation other than the Govt.

If the author Mr Rao can fathom this axiomatic truth, I would be surprised if a seasoned politician and even a clever fox like Mukherjee who has been in government since Indira Gandhi would not have known it and would be waiting for the author to point Mukherjee's nose in the right direction.

As Mr Yeshwant Singh in his interaction in the programme Devils' Advocate categorically stated that the PM oversees the FM for all major financial political initiatives and policies.

The economist PM would surely take a greater interest in what is his subject - economics - than any other subject. That would be natural.

In this Op Ed, the author of the same, instead of piling wrath on the FM, has merely made the PM and Sonia Gandhi look like dithering, impotent idiots incapable of steering the nation and instead bowing down to the dictates of people they themselves have appointed!

Sir, there was never a doubt that both MMS and Pranab Da never had a good relationship. In fact when MMS was made the PM, then Pranab D was very upset and he is supposed to have appealed to Sonia Gandhi, that how could he ( Pranab) report to MMS, who at one point of time used to wait outside his door waiting to be called in. ( This is the period MMS was RBI Governer and Pranab da was the FM).

In fact in private till date MMS, calls out to Pranab Da as Sir. MMS has been the quintessential bureaucrat and has never known to assert himself ove his cabinet colleagues.

Enough with the blame game, now show some action.

In a way, its good that Pranab da is out of the picture. Now MMS can't pass on the blame to anyone else given that he himself is heading the Finance portfolio.

ejazr, The coalition angle still remains as an excuse. But the biggest problem which MMS will face will be trying to reconcile the Social Spending demands from Sonia/NAC and the Fiscal reality. Will he have to guts to inform Madam to wait for some time till the economy gets back on track.
