Prabhakaran was tortured before being killed, says report

New Delhi: Tamil Tigers leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was tortured by the Sri Lankan military before being killed, a leading human rights body said in a report released on Wednesday.

The University Teachers for Human Rights (UTHR) quoted high-level military sources as saying that Prabhakaran was tortured in the presence of "a Tamil government politician and a general".

The torture, it said, took place probably at the headquarters of the army's 53 Division, which battled the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) before crushing it last month.

You sow what you reap. 20 years of war had bittered Sri Lanka, and this person was responsible for deaths of 100000 people.

What? The great Prabhakaran let himself be caught alive?!!!! Didn't he have any of the Cyanide capsule that he gave to all LTTE members?!

I am kinda happy learning this, instant death is too little punishment for all the hell he broke loose on that island and all the deaths he was responsible for - Sinhalese and Tamils alike.

He deserved it. Who gives a hoot if he is tortured. He was responsible for death of many a innocent people, he is a beast, so he doesn't deserve any human rights. Well done SLA.

The Grim harvest of the Civil war not Prabhakaran's making,to the contrary he was the bitter reaping for the hatred the Sinhalese had sown years before.

Srilankan forces did the same to the leaders of the JVP during the insurgency,Rohana Wijeweera was arrested tortured and executed. In this case the fear of Prabhakaran has so seeped into their minds that they must have executed his wife and adolescent son for the fear of future reprisal.

The Sinhalese have now sown fresh seeds hatred and hostility, how long before we see the harvest.

No Surprize from you comment especially the Mainland from where you are hailing from, where Animal is synomous to Human. Since ever Prabhakaran was punished with Legal course, then it may have sent a strong messege to all his loyalist about the power of Judicial system of Srilanka. But forget about those thing, you should keep up with your own line of thinking.
