Amethi:Touring his constituency Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi today attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a man of "different thinking", one who believed in absolute power and ruling from Delhi.
"We want to empower all citizens so that the world can hear your voice. Prime Minister's thinking is different from ours. You have to decide which thinking you prefer. He thinks all power should be in his hands and the entire country should be ruled from Delhi. All development should happen through a handful of bureaucrats sitting in Delhi," the Congress vice president said.
He listed landmark legislation by the Congress-led UPA - National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), Right to Information (RTI) and the food security scheme - and said, "You have to choose - do you want to be able to speak freely or do you want someone else to do this for you."
"Those in the government have a different thinking from me," he added.
To illustrate his point, Mr Gandhi shared how he helped a woman who addressed the crowd before him by placing a piece of wood so she could stand on it and "reach the podium."
He said, "I could have just kept sitting. But my idea is to give her strength. That is my politics."

Yesterday, Mr Gandhi, while visiting Jagdishpur, the village he has adopted, criticized the scheme, calling it pointless.
"There are 700 villages in Amethi but I was asked to pick one.
My thinking is different. My thinking is that each village of Amethi, each village of the country should be empowered," Mr Gandhi said.
