Pakistani IT firm 'On top of the world' in Blackberry apps

ISLAMABAD, Dec 22, 2010 (AFP) - Photo editing software developed by a Pakistan technology firm Five Rivers became the best selling paid-for application for the Blackberry, the firm said Wednesday.

Lahore-based Five Rivers said its Photo Editor Suite had hit the top spot across all sectors on Blackberry's AppWorld store.

"This is extremely good news for us and especially for the Pakistani IT industry," Mahe Zehra Husain, the head of operations and product management at Five Rivers Technology, told AFP.

"We feel we are on top of the world. This is incredible."

The application "has been in the top five paid applications for quite a while now and on Sunday made its way to the number one spot," she said.

Photo Editor Suite allows users to crop, rotate, adjust brightness and contrast, recolour and resize photos, Husain added.

The website of Five Rivers, which opened a year and a half ago, says it has developed and run out more than 100 mobile applications for the Blackberry and iPhone as well as other smartphones.

This is a good. See, Pakistan has potential to emerge and come out of its current situation-- the only thing it has to do is willingness to give religious obsession a break. If it does that, there's no reason that why it cannot come up with its own niche industries.

Nobody uses Blackberry for apps these days. It's either Apple iOS or Android. Congrats anyway.

Are you the Jana who was caught using a Fake ID? Where you acted as a Persecuted Christian Missionary from India? And you were caught with your vicious and venomous propaganda against India and Hindus by Admins of that forum? and kicked out as suggested by Vinod, as that Persecuted missionary's IP was found as an exact match with yours on that forum!!

Not only that, I have seen her dishonest nature on other occasions too. There was a poll on another website about whether the Chinese members of the forum support China's stapled Visa policy, and a note was made, asking for "only Chinese to vote, Indians and Pakistanis keep their hands off the poll". And this woman immediately went like the sly creature she is, and hit the Yes button. She couldn't work out that the poll choice was visible to public, and tried to act too smart.

This is the quality and intellectual honesty of Pakistani journalists (yes, this woman is a journalist there). No wonder the entire country is the way it is. I hate disgusting hypocrites like her, who pretend to be all nice and fair and "unbiased" but move all over the internet with fake IDs and post shit about India.

Fine, let them continue, but two can play this game. Let us see who comes out smelling like shit at the end of it (as though Pakistan needed anymore damage of its image).

The actual News is as follows:

Lahore software company among top 5 Blackberry app makers
Nice feather in the cap for Pakistan's software development industry.

Lahore-based firm pepper.pk designs apps for the Blackberry. At the moment their photo editing software Photo Editor is the 3rd most downloaded (paid) app in the Blackberry app store.

So its 3rd most downloaded, NOT first 1st, as claimed by pakistanis. After pakistan's concocted malicious propaganda (using self-produced fake wiki-leak documents) by (their islamic jihadi) news agencies in pakistan against India, its hard to believe pakistanis have become any less delusional or saner, however, they may distort this news to massage their downtrodden failed state beggeristani ego, and claim to be on TOP in something as useless as Blackberry apps.

Pakistani IT firm 'on top of the world' in Blackberry apps

(AFP) – 23 hours ago

ISLAMABAD — Photo editing software developed by Pakistani technology firm Five Rivers became the best selling paid-for application for the Blackberry, the firm said Wednesday.

Five Rivers, which opened its subsidiary Pepper.pk a year and a half ago, says it has developed and run out more than 100 mobile applications for the Blackberry and iPhone as well as other smartphones.

The company started in 2003 and consists of 50 people and has worked with a number of leading technology firms at home and abroad, Husain said.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan, software and IT-enabled service exports amounted to 204 million dollars in fiscal year 2009-2010 and the industry as a whole is worth around 2.8 billion dollars.

Pakistan, a nuclear-armed conservative Muslim country of 167 million people, is in deep recession, exacerbated by years of Al-Qaeda-linked bombings, an energy crisis, poor foreign investment and this year by catastrophic flooding.

Excellent news, Jana. Thanks for posting..

And guys, go easy on the angst on her. IMO it is good to have a devil's advocate among us, too many fanboys. What I like about Jana (I know her from PDF) is that she has a anti-india bias but does not hide it.
