Pakistani court awards jail to Veena Malik, husband and media group owner -

Islamabad: An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan Tuesday awarded 26-year jail term to owner of the country's major media group for airing "blasphemous contents" during a TV programme.:pound:

The court ordered the arrest of Mir Shakil ur Rehman, the owner the Jang group of publications. The group owns "Geo television" and the English daily "The News", Xinhua reported.

The court in Gilgit-Baltistan also announced jail term for known actress Veena Malik, her husband Asad Malik and Shayesta Lodhi, who had hosted the controversial programme.

None of the accused were present in the court at the time of the announcement of the verdict.

Judge Raja Shehbaz Khan also imposed a penalty of 1.3 million Pakistani rupees(about $12,500)each on all the convicts, who have the right to appeal against the judgment.

Waqar Ahmad, secretary to the judge, told the media the court ordered the local administration to confiscate properties of the convicts if they did not surrender to the authorities.

All convicts are believed to have gone abroad.

A petition, filed in May this year, had stated that the convicts had "used derogatory language for "committing blasphemy by airing objectionable contents" against the family of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad.

Officials said all convicts can file appeal against the verdict in the chief court in Gilgit-Baltistan, which is equal to a high court.

Geo television had aired the controversial morning show May 14 that had prompted criticism from religious circles. The TV had publicly apologised over the programme and also published apology in the group's English and Urdu newspapers.

The programme was aired to celebrate the wedding of famous film and TV drama actress Veena Malik.

The management later said the host had unintentionally committed a mistake in the programme namely "Wuthu Jago Pakistan", which means wake up Pakistan. Religious groups had also staged rallies against the media group.

Re: Pakistani court awards jail to Veena Malik - Blasphemy Strikes Aga

Let us remember that Veena Malik, after earning huge pots of money and fame from India, Tweeted "India sucks" and began abusing India and Indians after she went back to Pakistan. She followed the path of all true Pakis - take benefits from India/West and abuse them in return.

Remember Salman Taseer, that Paki who wanted the blasphemy law to be taken out and who was shot by his bodyguard Qadri? Well, when one of ISROs vehicles caught fire after launch, he Tweeted: "Space science not for Indians. My advise: stick to Bollywood".

Both Veena Malik and Samlan Taseer have been taught a good lesson by Pakistan. Serves them right. More power to blasphemy law.

If such talibanization comes to mainland Pakistan, so many mirasis and naachne gaane wali aurats will lose their employment. These courtesans must be having lot of clients and fans in judiciary, lawyers and politicians. If they want to protect their future, they must lobby hard to stop such things early before they get out of hand.

Oh I remember those few days when Samlan Taseer tweeted that and when he was assassinated. It was like something you wish and it then really happens. His son also wrote this article about his father's hate for India only few days after his assassination . Really explains it all

Veena Malik claims she didn't tweet that @Bangalorean

However, from what I've googled, nothing will happen because a court in GB, PoK has given this judgement and it cannot be imposed in Pakistani mainland. Lulz @ PoK.

Mana ki tum bahut kuch ho lekin sab kuch to nahi
Mana ki hum bahut kuch nahi par kuch to hain
Pura honen main kuch majboorian tumhari hain kuch hamari

I remember that one. Golden words coming from a Paki. A nation that can't even produce a pin. lol

Thank God his son with the Indian mother seems to be the most sophisticated among all his children. Hasn't one of his Paki sons been abducted or something?

All his other children seem so superficial. Well then again, what do you expect from these Pakis. My advice to these Pakis would be to stick to caves and the gutters where they actually belong.

Right, one of his munnas has been abducted.

So, it would be safe to say that while India continues to successfully invest in rocket science and space science while simultaneously growing in Bollywood and establishing international footprint, Salman Taseer continues to remain dead and his munna continues to remain kidnapped.
