+ also @Zarvan how do Pakistanis just accept the comeplete lack of transparancy that goes on with Pakistani defence purchases? The Army controls everything and conducts everything internally, there is no oversight, no independant auditing just blind trust in the Pak Army. If the FN SCAR is selected by the PA the people are just supposed to accept it won on merit and not because they offered the most bribes. Have you seen your corps commanders rolling around in S-classes and BMWs? I wonder how all this is being funded.

This is absolutely mind blowing to me, 200 million people worshipping a single institution and giving them authority to loot the country blind.

India has it's problems but god damn its system is superior and the scoreboard doesn't lie- the best hope Pakistan has of acheving $1TN USD (nominal) GDP is in 2045!!

When you have Zardari & Nawaz Sharif's family making it into the list of Top 10 richest people in Pakistan, you know you've got some serious laundering on hand...

More logical will be modernized Chinese AK than SCAR, PA trooper are more inclined towards using AKMs than G3 in service ..

But again, POF is capable of producing SCAR in good numbers and quality, If SCAR get selected it won`t surprise me ..

But all the training and manual have to change in all units of PA, And its adaptation will take time, Unlike ours ..

Replacing the standard issue rifle is going to be a tough decision to make be it any army in the world. I think such decisions are taken perhaps once in a generation.

India moved on from 7.62mm SLR to 5.56mm INSAS, while Pak Army retained the 7.62 round in G3. Now world over Armies are coming back to 762, or at least something heavier than 556. IMHO it makes sense for Pakis to retain Type-56 and G3 combo for a while.

They should go for a multi-cal rifle like India is.

I won't be surprised- the Pak Army gets what it wants as they control the show. However, this is a 500,000 man army and no other nation has fully replaced their standard issue rifle with something as expensive as the SCAR. It says everything you need to know about Pakistan, it's bascially the continuation of "eat grass".

Well because their is not much corruption in weapons deals. When it comes to weapons their is massive internal check and balances. Corruption if happens takes places in cases of property.

Now as for FN SCAR many insiders suggest that it would win the trials easily.

Hi
Pakistan's choice most logically should be AK 103, SCAR is expensive and based on alloys and polymer can't handle rough jobs. and more importantly SCAR service life is quite less as compares to AK variants.

All the guns they are testing failed the competition for Indian Army ,all the guns are very expensive no way can they be mass produced as standard service rifle may be some SF will get them ,nothing else.AK 103 is being considered for IA and thanks to Pak support for Turkey and economy ,Russia will not give AK 103.

Sir we made the calculations before started testing if we had issues of money we would have no tested FN SCAR not even Berreta ARX-160 would have been among those which are being tested.

Really than they would have not sent AK-103 in first place. Russia is also selling us MI-35.

Yup, the MARCOs use it but it isn't being looked at to be the standard issue assualt rifle for the entire IA- MCIWS is already under development.
If these guys aint going for QBZ, then it speaks volumes about that rifle's quality, cause these other options are quite expensive and they didn't even meet IA's expectations, while its another matter itwould've costed us mammoth to arm 1.2 million soldiers with these toys.

Well, don't talk of corruption here at least because reported and suspected cases of corruption are much higher in your country. :biggrin2:
You guys yet get subsidy on weapons.
