Pakistan will seek to purchase another 10 Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block 52 multirole fighters from the United States after recently concluding a deal to buy eight of the aircraft.

A "decision in principle has been made to buy 10 more F-16s", a senior Pakistani government official told IHS Jane'son 7 March, while adding that "the exact timing to place an order is yet to be decided".

The US Department of State approved in February a sale of eight fighters - two single-seat F-16Cs and six twin-seat F-16Ds, along with associated equipment - for about USD699 million. The deal was opposed by some members of the US Congress on the grounds that Pakistan had not done enough against insurgents and terrorist groups active in Afghanistan.

@Zarvan ...I bielive Pakistan do not have heavy fighters or more so twin jet engines
You have F16 and JF17 both are single jet and light fighter
Why you don't go for F18 a much sophisticated fighter

The first eight are still stuck as Congress does not want the fighters to be paid for by American funds.Obama can do little to help without handing the presidency to the republicans who will use any American funding for these 8 jets to convince the American public their funds are being wasted on Pakistan. So unless the Pakistani air force can cough up the 700$ million required for these eight there is little chance of another ten.

Saudi Arabia! :biggrin2:

Some will ask why not from their sweeter than honey friends, China? Not a chance! They refused loans to Pakistan earlier twice even after their persistent begging and so they had to run to the IMF for a $7 billion loan instead!

You need to STFU. Do you even know that the Chinese refused you the loan of $7 billion that forced you to beg the IMF instead? Needless to say, illiterates like you won't understand this.Check it out...
The most important indication of the limits of the China-Pakistan financial relationship is the PRC’s not-so-gentle shunting of Pakistani aid requests to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF denied large-scale aid requests made by Pakistan immediately after the September 2008 financial shock, forcing Islamabad to accept a multi-billion-dollar IMF program with stringent economic conditions. In the end, China did agree to provide around $500 million in concessionary lending to Pakistan, but its refusal to provide large-scale loans indicates clear limits on China’s willingness to take primary responsibility for Pakistan’s financial woes.

And don't call me a 'kid'. I started greying when you were still in your diapers. Stop talking like a moron.

Heck! The idiots we have to contend with here! Jeeez.

PAF's older fleet of F-16A/B aircraft are getting old, and sort of obsolete. The Turkish upgrades can only get them so far...sooner or later they will have to retire and that's the reason why the purchase of new F-16s is being rushed. Earlier, it was thought that the Chengdu FC-20 would be inducted but the fact that Russia would not allow for the re-export of AL-31 engines to third party put brakes on that deal and forced PAF to settle for the much less capable F-16C/D.

Another purpose is that in the recent deal, most of the planes were the two-seat F-16D version. This is necessary to convert more pilots to the fighter squadrons of both F-16 and JF-17, as the latter still does not have a two-seat Operational Conversion Trainer (OCT) version.....regardless of what PAF/ISPR statements (that they're necessary for strike missions against terrorists) say.

Pakistan is soon turning into an autonomous region of China just like the Tibetan Autonomous Region. 11,000 troops including engineers from the PLA and some Chinese workers have built permanent settlements in GB for the ostensible reason of building the CPEC. But the Chinese are there to stay. Even the Pakis need a permit to enter the area!! Jeeez!

Then there's Gwadar port which has been leased to China for 40 years! The Pakis need permission to enter certain areas here too!

The CPEC is of the Chinese, by the Chinese and for the Chinese. The Pakis are just a bit player in China's grant design of establishing a naval base at Gwadar for dominating the Arabian Sea / IOR and the Strait of Hormuz. The CPEC is being built basically as a logistics/supply route for their naval base behind the facade of building the so called 'economic corridor'.

And Paki commentators on TV etc are gushing and going overboard by stating that once the CPEC is completed, rivers of gold will flow through Pakistan!! Lol! Their mental masturbation is getting kinda amusing!!

Pakis are masters at fooling themselves. Once CPEC is completed, they'll be made slaves of the 5.1/2 foot Chayneeze ;) GB and GWADAR becomes Chayneeze kung fu grounds. Pakis will be kicked in their butts.
