Pakistan isolated: Indo-US-Afghan meet in Sept

NEW DELHI: In a move that will further isolate Pakistan in the region, India and the US on Tuesday announced the start of trilateral cooperation to strengthen and stabilise Afghanistan. Visiting US Secretary of State John Kerry also talked tough with Islamabad asking it to rein in terror emanating from its territory.

The three countries will start the trilateral cooperation next month on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly, where Pakistan has threatened to raise the Kashmir issue.

During her joint press conference with Kerry, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said Pakistan should stop terrorism and dismantle the Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and the D-Company networks. “I briefed Secretary Kerry on the continuing problem of cross-border terrorism that India and the larger region face from Pakistan. We both agreed that nations must not maintain double standards, such as the categorisation of good and bad terrorists, nor must they act as sanctuaries and safe havens for terrorist organisations.

“We reaffirmed the urgent necessity for Pakistan to dismantle safe havens for terrorists and criminal networks including Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and the D-Company,” Swaraj said.

The US Secretary of State fell short of mentioning Pakistan in his statement, but in reply to a question, he made it clear that it will not make any distinction between “good and bad terrorists” and urged justice for the Mumbai and Pathankot terror attacks.

In response to a query about the India-US-Afghanistan trilateral meet, “It is in Indian and Pakistan interest to have a peaceful and stable Afghanistan…. As far as Pakistan feeling isolated is concerned, we all are in touch with Pakistan Prime Minister and Army Chief regarding the sanctuary being provided to Haqqani network and LeT,” said Kerry.

Kerry said that instead of feeling isolated, Pakistan should see it as a roadmap for making its choices to combat terror.

“Pakistan on the contrary is not isolated, it should feel encouraged… It can find roadmap for its own choices for tackling terror,” said Kerry.

Kerry arrived in New Delhi on Monday after visiting Bangladesh to discuss the means of combating terrorism with authorities in Dhaka. He was here to take part in the 2nd India-US Strategic and Commercial Dialogue. The US Secretary of State is skipping Islamabad during his South Asia visit giving a signal loud and clear to India’s western neighbour.

“We have agreed to work together to strengthen the National Unity Government in Afghanistan,” Swaraj said. The cooperation between the three countries is crucial as New Delhi has been wary of helping Kabul as it might create unease in Islamabad. However, under the Modi government, India has changed its policy of giving military aid to Afghanistan, much to the discomfort of Pakistan.

    AWWWW>>>>>Pakistan Anchor's superb reaction...

This statement is important, because Pakistan is losing it's strategic depth in AFG TALIBAN IN PAKISTAN and hence US AID too... secondly, if they will stop anti terror operation now.. these groups will resurge against pakistan..see these groups are tribals and they would love to regain land from pak army.. I hope you understand my point

There's a hisory to this development. Last year the US had clearly said that India cannot be a part of the US-Pakistan-Afghanistan talks. They allowed even China (even Turkey is a part of a trilateral process) but said that India has no locus standi and no legitimate right to be part of the dialogue. After this humiliation, India basically postponed all relations with the US. It seems like this was our bargaining chip which we have cashed in now. Now we are allowed to be part of a talks in Afghanistan. This clearly is significant. That doesn't really mean the US is pro-India, it just means that we have negotiated with whatever chips we had and got a good deal for ourselves which we were denied earlier (in exchange for letting the US have LSA agreement) .

exactly it has occurred to US, only after AFG intervened and told how disastrous it would be to it's investments if IND is left from the dialogue.. INDIA COULD BRING US TO THE BARGAINING TABLE.. AFG IS INDIA's STRATEGIC PARTER TO KEEP CHECK ON PAKISTAN

AIR looks to strengthen Baluchi language news service

NEW DELHI: Public broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) is planning to focus on its news service in Baluchi language, a move which comes days after Prime MinisterNarendra Modi flagged concerns about the condition of people in Balochistan in Pakistan.

Senior officials said that while AIR has a service in Baluchi, which commenced in 1974, the broadcaster is now looking to augment the news bulletin component.

"The All India Radio (AIR) already has a service in Baluchi language which airs various programmes and also news. But now an enhanced news bulletin is being planned in Baluchi language," a senior official said.

It is learnt that the duration of the present news bulletins is 10 minutes, which could be increased.

The move is significant as it comes in the backdrop of Modi's Independence Day speech in which he had brought up the issue of Pakistani atrocities on people of Baluchistan and PoK.

It was for the first time the disturbed areas in the control of Pakistan were mentioned by any Prime Minister during his Independence speech.

Earlier, DD News had also sent a team to Geneva to interview Brahumdagh Bugti, leader of Baloch Republican Party.

The External Services Division (ESD) of All India Radio already broadcasts daily in 57 transmissions covering over 108 countries in 27 languages.

Out of these, 15 are foreign including Baluchi language.

The US is turning Afghanistan into a time bomb that they want to explode when they can finally disengage to keep the region destabilized and everyone especially IndiA and Pakistan weak.

Its no different than Pakistan itself being created to keep IndiA in check.

If IndiA want a to get anywhere in Afghan or the region they need to engage Afghan one on one and also engage Afghanistan's neighbors and ethnic groups homelands from Iran to central Asia like Uzbeks, tijaks etc

Porki media was crying. When they asked US that why they are not involved, US said that you are doing a great job of fighting terror. Keep doing that. That is also a very important job.
