Pakistan has to make a conscious choice of peace with India: Arun Jaitley

NEW DELHI: Pakistan should draw a red line whether it wants to talk to government of India or those who want to break India, defence minister Arun Jaitley said on Wednesday asking it to make a "conscious" choice.

India, he said, was "ready to speak to Pakistan" and is "willing to normalise the relationship" but "then there are a few red lines".

"We create the environment, we fix up a dialogue at the level of foreign secretaries, our foreign secretary is to visit Pakistan (and) literally a few hours before that they invite the separatists for a dialogue to their high commission (in New Delhi).

"So I think a new red line has to be drawn in Pakistan to reconsider this question that who they want to speak to? Do they want to speak to the government of India or they want to speak to those who want to break India," he said at the India Economic Summit here.

"So unless Pakistan makes the conscious choice, a dialogue with Pakistan will not be possible," he said.

India in August called off a scheduled foreign secretary-level talks after Pakistan's envoy met Kashmir separatists on the eve of the dialogue.

Referring to ceasefire violations by Pakistan on the Line of Control, he said the consequences of its "misadventure" like firing on civilian population and uprooting of village, "would be an unaffordable cost for Pakistan."

Jaitley, who is also the finance minister, said New Delhi has given three messages to Pakistan.

"The first is that we want to talk. So we invited them. The second is we send a foreign secretary there. But they must decide whether they are ready to speak to our foreign secretary or to speak to those who want to break India. The third is that this kind of a situation in international border cannot go on.

"That's not an environment for a dialogue... India would like to normalise the relationship. But whether Pakistan wants to normalise the relationship depends on Pakistan," he said.

The fallacious interpretation of Islam that is the national policy of Pakistan will be its doom.

They will kill each other and the minorities and then get a whiff of sanity before they vanish into thin air, if they don't.

They will never make a conscious choice of peace with themselves, let alone with India or the world or with Islam itself.

They always had a supporter in the West to stand up to India. Since most of them have abandoned the Land of Pure for reasons of their own they are now which they have to realise and accept as a fact that past behaviour will not be tolerated. Pakistan military and political leadership has to wake up to the fact that they have been used in the past and are being used now by China to protect their own interest without any sincere interest in Pakistan's well being. They can't even live each other let alone their immediate neighbours and are engaged daily slaughter of human life. I use to have optimistic views about this country when Imran Khan came to the political scene with future vision of the nation but have lost hope if they can stick together and work it out in view of fact that the shouting match between politicians has become like a soap opera of TV to entertain the masses.

Arun Jaitley has rightfully said that they have to be sincere in their commitment otherwise they are doomed due to internal unrest and unwillingness of their Military masters to accept India's right over the entire territory of J&K and Gil git-Balkistan there is no room for compromising from Indian side.

well, we wish it could be ....but is it realistic ?
its south-western neighbours will make sure that cant ever happen

pak is a fire and forget missile designed by the extremists and the targets are the western, european and north-american world besides israel and india .......

pentagon and west is now reluctantly admitting that the entity they also partially
helped create is the snake that hilary clinton says is in paks back yard ...... needs only 12 hr jet travel
    to anywhere

those snakes are max approx only 12 hrs away from anywhere in the western world .

only way is all of us realize that and do "something" about it

latest pentagon statement on pak using terrorist resources is the first appearance of a noose which was
once a necklace that washington has made for pak's neck

....not so different from the necklace they once gave saddam which turned into a noose.

....now we need to see if that noose will loosen or tighten !
