We are getting too optimistic about US. When US could do no jack about A.Q. Khan, what makes you guys think US will take care of Pakistani nukes? US does everything which is in it's interests. Had the US done anything significantly or remotely close for the World's interests, being a Superpower, we would have been living in a far better world now.

First of all Iraq never had nuclear capability all they were charged for was biological weapons and they were never found. Moreover Iraq was a weak nation and what USA was intrested in was controlling their oil not their nukes or weapons. conditions differ in case of Iran , Pakistan and N korea .

US paining nerves are Israel, South Korea, Taiwan & Japan.

We have seen Iraq's situation (threat was for Israel)

Lets assume condition of Pakistan is real critical. Radical are about to take power of Pakistan in hand. Pakistan Army is supporting (covertly) Radicals.

Fear for US............ If Radical take the charge, Nukes will go into hands of them and then threat to India/ Israel (via Iran)/ South Korea (via North Korea) etc etc.

Maybe some of them will reach New york or London (Jihad).

So in this condition........ what precaution will US take? They will definitely siege all there Nuke Arsenal.

China . thats why Pakistanis wil nevel allow USA to monitor all nukes as it will spill beans. SO USA cannot help us even if they want to .

Thats what my point is........ Precaution is always better then cure. and that was done in Iraq (though nothing was found) to safe guard US intrest. And of course of Israel.

US has stationed themselves in Pakistan in such a way that at any moment they can destroy there Nukes. If not able to take away.

DD, one thing is for certain. since it takes lesser fissile material to make Pu bomb and they are more compact. pak has invested heavily in Pu generation. but Pu based bombs are different from Uranium. you cannot go about it without testing. all of Pak tests in 98 were uranium bombs. It can only happen if Pak got complete designs again from China, probably working bombs even like in the past.

It was the earlier Afghan war that helped pak get nukes and its the second war now there that helped pak get more in the form of Pu bombs. It is also one of the reasons why Pak kept the US engaged in Astan by keeping the pot boiling and two timing the US. As long as they are "strategic allies", they will be able to do anything. It was done once, it has happened again for sure.

As a country we should be prepared to safeguard our interests ourself. We cannot expect USA to do dirty and risky job for US. we are not Israel and not so close ally. If news of Pakistanis gettin plutonim boms are true then its definitely chinese and I donot think China would risk them falling in American hands. USA may be able to take control of a few but not all of them . Moreover their bombs are in dismantled state and its very difficult to track all of them . they can assemble few bombs at any location and USA may not be able to track all of them .

I think India needs to make it clear to everyone that no matter who uses it but if Bomb made in a particular country explode in Indian territory retaliatory strike will include manufacturer as well.

we need to reexamine the no first use doctrine ,with 2 hostile neighbors does it make sense?? Better to have a overwhelming initial strike to keep collateral damage at a minimum.
