They still managed to kick ass
Let's analyze:
1948: Failed miserably.

1965: Started for snatching Kashmir and ended up with defending Lahore. That was even defended because US, Soviet, China and Europe all were against India. You just won Air war but lost more territory than you achieve with lose of much more manpower and equipment and your children are taught that you guys won war. :pound:

1971: Ghazwa e Pak!!!!! :amen:
Not worth mentioning at all.

1999: Sent your good terrorists inside Indian territory and got them pushed back when Indian Army only defended (not attacked back) and didn't cross the border.

Q) What is the possibility of Pakis, trying to improve their relations with BRICS without I and seek a membership and greater economic cooperation?
Ans.) ?
0

Yet they could be able to enter BRICS around in 2050(with economy among G-20) and Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa will be out of BRICS being developed countries by then.

Pakistan cannot become a major player, as Pakistan suffers from major problems in education, infrastructure, and social harmony.

Pakistan is a paper monster that is kept standing by foreign players, mostly due to "keep Hindus in their place".

Stop harping on Pakistan. Let it stew in its own juices. Its useless minions will try to influence and mess up the minds of "evil Hindus" which they are taught to hate since first standard in school.

Any discussion with a Pakistani yields NOTHING USEFUL.

My advice is to stop all Pakistani threads. It is a waste of time.

We have enough sources to gather information about Pakistan. We do need this message board.

China investing money in Pakistan? China has money to blow. Let it.
Coal fired power plants or gas fired power plants - both need money to run. Pakistani don't believe in paying their power bills.
Roads are already there, courtesy of Gulf money.
Rail system is a mess, and China does not seem to be interested.
China is hardly investing money in heavy engineering or light engineering where Pakistan can do well.

So Pakistan is not moving much. China is only doing enough to keep Pakistan in its orbit. Nothing more.

Pakistan is full of angry people, that hardly makes its economy suitable for major investment.

People who have investments in Pakistan do not have happy stories to tell.

China cannot change Pakistani mind.

Its the other way around. Others fund it for you coz you don't have enough money.
We have around 20 billion excess funds this year; thats more than 4-5 nuclear programs. Middle Eastern nations fund our program because Pakistan has guaranteed to use nuclear weapons to protect them.

LCA Tejas firing Chengdu JF-17 Thunder

Why?

The Tejas is a light multirole fighter fit for the 21st century. It uses a lot of new technology and innovation, such as its use of large amounts of composite materials, its advanced avionics system and its unique aerodynamic configuration. In terms of functionality, the LCA Tejas has good potential to be expanded into variants. For example, at a time when the air force version is yet to be commissioned widely, a ship-based version of the aircraft has already been released.

The Xiaolong is a third-generation model designed for the international market. The use of off-the-shelf materials not only cuts costs but also reduces risks in the design process and improves the reliability of the aircraft. This will not make it the best aircraft, but rather a standard, cheap and reliable model for air-to-air combat. In summation, the Xiaolong is the aircraft of today and the Tejas is the aircraft of tomorrow.

In 1998 China purchased the design and test data from Russia to aid in expediting the development of the Chengdu JF-17/FC-1.

JF-17 is more comparable to the HJT-36 Sitara intermediate jet trainer – since both have an all-metal airframe, conventional controls, and an externally sourced engine. And the Sitara was developed even faster than the Thunder.

US promises aid to Pakistan in $602 bn defence bill but with strings attached

https://www.geo.tv/latest/107858-US...ackage-for-Pakistan-but-with-strings-attached

WASHINGTON: The Senate voted decisively on Tuesday to approve a defense policy bill that authorizes $602 billion in military spending, of which $800 million have been kept aside for Pakistan. However there are strings attached.

Of the promised aid $300 million dollars will be given to Pakistan if it launches an operation against the Haqqani network.

On the other hand US President Obama has warned of vetoing this bill which also calls for making it more difficult to close the detention centre at the Guantanamo Bay naval base in Cuba and the use of funds specially designated for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to allow the military to avoid mandatory spending limits.

If the bill is finished before November, when every member of the House and one-third of the Senate is up for re-election, a veto could prove challenging for Democrats.

Obama’s party is trying to keep the White House, and hopes to regain the Senate majority it lost in 2014, if not control of the House. But Democrats perpetually battle accusations from Republicans that they are soft on defence, a fight that could be more difficult if they block the major Pentagon policy bill.

Republican Senator John McCain, who chairs the Armed Services Committee, said he was disappointed the bill did not include a programme that would help Afghans who are in danger because they worked for American troops to move to the United States.

“They are the number one target for the Taliban and for ISIS [Islamic State],” McCain said in the Senate after the bill passed without an amendment extending the program to provide Special Immigrant Visas for interpreters and others who worked for U.S. forces.

Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen, who had introduced the amendment, called its omission “unconscionable.” In a statement, she said, “For many of them, this could be a death sentence.”

The bill would also require young women to register for the military draft, as the Department of Defense opens all of the military, including combat roles, to females. A few conservative senators voted against the measure because of that provision.

ADB to invest in CPEC, Gwadar city projects
By Shahbaz Rana
Published: June 21, 2016

Says CPEC, special economic zones need huge finances that it can complement. PHOTO: AFP

ISLAMABAD: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has expressed keen interest in investing in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and in the Gwadar city to complement efforts made by both the countries, but it has not yet received a formal request from the federal government.

“The CPEC, Special Economic Zones and other initiatives have huge financial needs and the ADB can complement Pakistan and China’s efforts,” said ADB Vice President Wencai Zhang while speaking to media at the conclusion of his five-day visit to Pakistan on Monday.

Gwadar port to be operational by 2017: Chinese official

The ADB has provided Pakistan loans amounting to over $27 billion over a period of 50 years and the purpose of the VP’s visit was to find new areas of cooperation and to get first-hand information about economic cooperation.

“I visited Gwadar for the first time and was so impressed by the quality and potential of the Gwadar port, located at such an important place,” said Zhang while sharing his feelings.

“The port needs a lot of investment in coming years. Authorities have named a few projects for transport, city development, water supply and road and rail to link Gwadar with other cities for which they seek the ADB support,” he added.

He said the authorities would first have to talk to the central government for the ADB support and that the bank had so far received no formal request from the government.

However, he added the bank – one of the two largest lenders to the country – would “certainly complement what China and Pakistan are doing along the economic corridor”. “The ADB will not duplicate what the two countries have already agreed to,” he maintained.

Present on the occasion, ADB Country Director Werner Liepach said the bank was actively looking at how to leverage the potential the CPEC offered. “If you only built the road; it’s only for transit, but the CPEC opportunity has to be realised,” he said.

“We are in talks with the government to find ways to develop the economic corridor.”

The ADB vice president said he had also discussed a plan to invest in the Pakistan Railways on a medium to long-term basis. “The railway minister mentioned three main lines but we have not yet picked any line for investment.”

He said the bank was keen to support the railways but first wanted to see a clear roadmap for sector’s reform, one that showed that the sector would be economically and financially viable in the years to come.

“Pakistan has achieved a lot of macroeconomic and financial stability, but the challenge of how to achieve higher economic growth remains,” he said, adding in order to take the current 4-5% growth rate to 7%, Pakistan needed more investment as the investment-to-GDP ratio was still very low.

“Export diversification remains another challenge the country needs to address,” he added.

The ADB distanced itself from the on-going GDP growth fudging allegations levelled by the parliamentarians and independent economists.

“The 4.7% growth estimate for 2015-16 was in line with the projections made by the international financial institutions,” the country director stated.

Zhang said the ADB had invested a lot in the energy sector to support reforms and remove bottlenecks, and it would continue with its heavy investment in the sector.

He said the lender was “overall satisfied with the progress in the energy sector and the government is broadly on track”. The two-year deadline to end load-shedding is realistic but depended on a lot of factors.

The ADB and Pakistan also signed an agreement for a $100 million loan to build the remaining 64km section of the motorway (M-4) connecting Shorkot and Khanewal in Punjab.

Diamer Bhasha Dam: World’s highest RCC Dam to act as future life line of Pakistan
Posted By: News Deskon: June 21, 2016

ISLAMABAD, Jun 21 (APP): Diamer Bhasha Dam: World’s highest RCC Dam to act as future life line of Pakistan

The federal government has allocated Rs 32 billion under Public Sector Development Programme for the year 2016-17 for construction of Diamer- Bhasha Dam.

According to official sources here on Tuesday, upon completion of the Diamer-Bhasha dam, Pakistan’s existing 30- day water storage capacity would reach 90 days.

Diamir-Bhasha Dam, one of the most important energy projects of the country for Pakistan as it would not only generate 4,500 MW of electricity but would also serve as a huge water reservoir for the country.

After a decade, the country is expected to face acute shortage of water so in order to prevent food starvation, this project would be developed at any cost.

The government assigns the highest priority to Diamer- Bhasha Dam because a serious water crisis is looming in next five to ten years which will be much bigger than electricity crisis.

The foundation stone of Diamer-Bhasha Dam, a gravity dam on the River Indus in Gilgit-Baltistan, was laid on October 18, 2011.

Upon completion, Diamer-Bhasha Dam would be the highest roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam in the world.

The dam site is situated near a place called “Bhasha” in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Diamer District, hence the name.

Diamer-Bhasha Dam would produce 4,500 megawatts of electricity through environmentally clean hydropower generation; store an extra 8,500,000 acre feet (10.5 km3) of water for the country that would be used for irrigation and drinking; extend the life of Tarbela Dam located downstream by 35 years; and control flood damage by the River Indus downstream during high floods.

It will have a height of 272 meters spillway with fourteen gates each 11.5 m x 16.24 m.

The gross capacity of the reservoir will be 8,100,000 acre feet (10.0 km3), with a live storage of 6,400,000 acre feet (7.9 km3). Two underground power houses are being proposed, one on each side of the main dam having six turbines on each side with total installed capacity 4500 MW.

In January 2006, the government announced the decision to construct five multi-purpose storage dams in the country during next 10-12 years.

According to the plan, Diamer-Bhasha Dam project was proposed in the first phase.

In November 2008, the Executive Committee of National Economic Council formally approved the project.

Council of Common Interests Pakistan, a constitutional body representing the provinces, also approved the construction of the dam.

The cost of the Diamer-Bhasha dam was estimated at $12.6 billion.

Detailed drawings of the dam were completed by March 2008.

The project is located on Indus River, about 315 km upstream of Tarbela Dam, 165 km downstream of the Northern Area capital Gilgit and 40 km downstream of Chilas.

Highest dam at 272m? Do they mean highest in terms of dam height or in terms of location w.r.t. sea level?
