Re: Pakistan seeks transit fee for each NATO tanker

Pakistan will open NATO routes because the alternative is economic sanctions on Pakistan similar to that of Iran.

While Iran has been able to survive on its oil revenues. Pakistan has no comparable resource. Sanctions also mean that remitances that come to Pakistan from the Gulf, North America and Europe will be blocked and that is more or less Zimbabwe situation for Pakistan then. Its only a matter of time, they are opened IMO. The PA/ISI wanted it opened early this year itself, but political upmaship between PTI, Nawaz group and Zardari is basically delaying it

True, and it will be catastrophic for Pakistan. And it wont just be an economic question then, the very existence of the left out Pakistan will be at stake here. Too many insurgencies to look after, and bigger powers that be, playing a lot of messy games, economic and otherwise, it will be a near impossible for them to pull it off.

Come on Imran, come on Hafiz, make sure PA, Pak Gov does not open NATO routes. It's against your Ghairat. Don't succumb to the evil Americans. :rotflmao: I have been waiting for sanctions on Pak for 10 years. Bring it on.

US to officially apologise for Salala, Pakistan to reopen supply Routes

Nato supplies breakthrough US to officially apologise for Salala, Pakistan to reopen supply routes

Hanif Khalid
Monday, June 11, 2012 From Print Edition

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to reopen suspended Nato supply routes through the country, Pakistan and the United States are due to launch "hot talks" this week following which Islamabad and Washington will issue a joint-statement.

It has been agreed that the United States will officially apologise for last year's Salala check-post attack, and will pay a tariff (fee) for each container in exchange for the opening of the supply line.

According to diplomatic and military sources, a senior United States official — on behalf of US President Barack Obama — will apologise publicly for martyring 26 Pakistani soldiers in the Salala attack.

It has also been secretly agreed that there will be a red line and mechanism for launching drone attacks on terrorist havens in Fata and North Waziristan. Furthermore, the United States will pay a $2,000 tariff to Pakistan for safe passage of Nato containers.

According to sources, there is also a likelihood that compensation will be paid to the heirs of the martyred soldiers on behalf of Washington, and the exact figure of this amount will be agreed within a few days.

Sources said the secret talks, which have been underway for several weeks between diplomatic and military channels of both countries, have proved meaningful. It was also said that the announcement of the Pak-US agreement would be made mid June, following which Pakistan will reopen the supply lines.

Either that or US could not afford the price set by the whore and decided to cut the whore some slack and "apologised" for past mis-treatment of the whore while continuing to bitch slap it:kickass::rotflmao:

I will wait and hold my breath for words like sorry and apologize. Any sugar coating is not an apology.

I really doubt after so long the US will actually say sorry, At best Pakis will assume the US said sorry for some statement the US will pass.

A US apology will embolden the Pakis into thinking they can get their way with the US by blocking supplies. Obama will loose the elections and the US will certainly loose face.

Sir US didn't blink,

1. They developed NDN in response. Which reduced reliance on Pakistan and help develop an alternate route to Afghanistan. (This was also be useful to India, once Iran to Central Asia linking projects are completed)
2. They bled Pakistan dry making them suffer tremendous economic loss.
3. A lowly US official is apologising for a Nato incident,
4. They were able to function well in Afghanistan, continue drone strikes whilst Pakistan had shut supply routes.

I think We donot have balls to do that Even if USA allows us to move some troops there. Regarding threatening supply line If pakistan does it now they will be bankrupt in no time while Russia will be richer .
India on the contrary has big balls but not meant to go berserk
