Sri Lankan officers get trained in various countries, including USA, UK, China, India, Pakistan.

Also their officers get trained from our SL institutions. (Including Indian officers)

But why Pak ?

A failed state that also doubles up as a terrorist nation & a basket-case (beggars beneath contempt) ?

How is it logical when SL has so many sound choices ?

They have advanced military capabilities than us and it is another powerful country in the region, it may not be the best option but it is one of good option.

Powerful country..ok, is it because they have nukes ? But, they are not going to share it with SL (not that SL harbours any weaponized nuke ambitions).

So, how are they powerful country ? Have they even managed to safeguard their own territorial sovereignty ?

It is just that Pak is an adversary to India & SL is trying to woo all such nations in its fold, as a lever against India. It is suicidal ploy. SL is treading extremely dangerous grounds.

Being a Buddhist country & due to old cultural ties, SL is seen very favorably in India, & appreciated.

But, SL Govt's shortsightedness in matters of foreign policy has persistently managed to irk India since 1960's.

Tell me, has it served any good to SL ever (consistently antagonizing & ganging up against Indian interests) ?

Expect good sense to prevail among our SL brothers. Hope SL learns from past mistakes & not repeat them.

China, India, Pakistan are friends of Sri Lanka. We don't have "special" friendship either with India or Pakistan or any other. Sri Lankans are always looking forward and acting to fulfill our interests. India vs Pakistan issues or India vs China issues or Pakistan's internal issues aren't matter to us. If we see opportunities and advantages we will go for it. Currently most performing country is China in the developing world. Most of Sri Lankans believe our future is with China but don't consider it as grouping with China. We are just taking advantage of next super power, China! That's all.

You are trying to be too politically correct but you end up sounding as too naive. Such developments do not portend well for peace in this region. Expect some fireworks. I would leave it at that.
