Indian courts and judges can learn a lot from this judgement.Though pakistani democracy is nascent but is more mature than the indian democrazy where undertrials and dons sit parliamrnt. The maturity PM gilani and his PPP party has shown by respecting court's judgement is truly commendable. But in idia courts dont deliver justice they act a advisory bodies as they did in case of Gen.V.K. singh's case.

how can courts dismiss a PM? I haven't read Pakistani Constitution, but it looks odd to have such a provision.

In India PM is the one who enjoys the confidence of majority of members in Lok Sabha.Courts can disqualify him from membership of LS on some grounds, but they cannot dismiss him from post of PM.
ex- Indira Gandhi's election to Lok Sabha was declared null and void in 1975 by High Court, but they didn't dismissed her as PM.

    A very interesting legal case.

One wonders what the Pak Constitution states on this issue.

In India, as far as I know, a Govt servant if in custody for 48 hours, is suspended and put on half pay till the finalisation of the case.

I am not too sure about what happens if there is a contempt of court.

Was Gilani also sentenced to be jailed?
