Islamabad: Contrary to speculations in media, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to raise the Kashmir issue in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and not likely to meet his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi during their stay in the United States.

This was revealed on Monday by a Pakistan-based journalist Hamid Meer whose tweet said, "No meeting of PM Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi in New York this year. Nawaz Sharif will again raise voice for Kashmiris in UNGA."

As per reports, Pakistan Prime Minister is expected to leave for the United States on September 24 to attend a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session, which he will address on September 26.

The Pak Premier is expected to focus on cooperation-based relationship with neighbouring countries, India and Afghanistan, in his speech. He is also expected to highlight the Kashmir issue at the UNGA.

On the side-lines of the UN General Assembly session, Prime Minister Nawaz will participate in an energy conference to explore ways to acquire energy through non-conventional sources. The premiers of Norway and Denmark are also expected to attend the conference.

Along with the US Vice President and Japanese Prime Minister, Sharif will also co-chair a peace conference to review cooperation among international friends.

He will also participate in a meeting on reforms in the United Nations, where he is expected to underline the need for harmonising the UN Security Council with new global demands.

The premier will return to the country on September 27 along with his entourage of 14 people, including security personnel. In between, Sharif was earlier reported to hold a meeting with Narendra Modi, who will be in the United States at the invitation of President Barack Obama.

Pakis are a JOKE to the world.

Same Pakis milked $Billions of US Taxpayers money to modernizer its forces and also terrorists. The same Pakis who hid OBL the killer of 3000 Americans.Pakistan still hide Zawahari and Mulla Omar.

Pakis celebrated the slaughtering of 3000 Americans in 9/11.

Almost all terrorist attacks are linked to Pakis.

Pakis have no credibility and respect in world , Pakistan is a FAILED TERRORIST STATE.

Pakis are doing GENOCIDE in Balochistan so India should talk about this.Pakistan is ILLEGALY OCCUPYING Balochistan and also killing Shias,AhmediasHindus,Sikhs,Christians.

just saw an interview at HT of Haqqani (fmr Pak Ambassador to US) and Rajdeep.... now i believe that their are minority intelligent people living there too.
Haqqani - Hafiz Saeed's only place on Earth is in Prison.
Rajdeep Desai- try saying that in Islamabad.
Haqqani - I did say that there. why do you think I shifted to US?
(everybody laughs) :)

UN has lost it's credibility long time back. It is a spineless elephant. Pakis dishonored the UN resolution on 65' war ceasefire so as to prove UN's credibility. What makes them think that India cares about it?

^^^ its UN resolution - 21st April 1948..

The resulting First Kashmir War lasted until 1948, when India sought resolution of the issue at the UN Security Council. Sheikh Abdullah was not in favour of India seeking UN intervention because he was sure the Indian Army could free the entire state from invaders. Following the set-up of the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP), the UN Security Council passed Resolution 47 on 21 April 1948. The measure imposed an immediate cease-fire and called on the Government of Pakistan 'to secure the withdrawal from the state of Jammu and Kashmir of tribesmen and Pakistani nationals not normally resident therein who have entered the state for the purpose of fighting.' It also asked Government of India to reduce its forces to minimum strength, after which the circumstances for holding a plebiscite should be put into effect 'on the question of Accession of the state to India or Pakistan. However, both India and Pakistan failed to arrive at a truce agreement due to differences over interpretation of the procedure for and the extent of demilitarisation. One sticking point was whether the Azad Kashmiri army was to be disbanded during the truce stage or at the plebiscite stage.

In November 1948, although both the Indian and Pakistani governments agreed to hold the plebiscite, the failure of Pakistan to withdraw its troops from Kashmir was a violation of the agreed conditions for holding it and the process stalled.

Yes Sharif indeed raised Kashmir and Afghanistan and the age old whining over the victimhood... and threw in opposition to UN Security Council expansion.
