They will grow stronger by the grace of PRC. The only limiting factor I see is the OPEX to maintain a larger fleet especially since the PN will compete with Pak Army and Air Force for funds.

During Operation Talwar in 1999,the Indian Navy was patrolling the waters 24km off Karachi. The only downside for us is that in a war-like situation, establishing a similar sea-control in the future would require more of our Naval assets than it does today.

But the largest threat remains their submarine fleet. We need many more submarines than we posses now. And even Bagladesh is acquiring more submarines. Maybe we need to mull a SOSUS like array of undersea sensors.

We need more attack subs than we need aircraft carriers.

Attack subs+boeing p8's+anti sub warfare subs can keep their under sea fleet in check

2 cbg's are enough to sink their navy.

If we can take out their submarines, the rest of their fleet will be relegated to their territorial waters, or maybe withdrawn to their shipyards. In such a case, two Kolkatta class destroyers will be enough to sink their entire fleet.
BTW, those Kolkatta class ships will be docked outside Dwarka when they take out the entire Pak fleet.

I think we will order more P-8I. BTW, I remember there was a Indian Navy tender for a medium range maritime recon aircraft. Anyone know what happened to it?

I believe we have some 2-4 tu-22 aircrafts.Deadly, supersonic and capable enough to sink half paki fleet.

Our Vikramaditya carrier group consist of 20-30 mig-29k's,2 kolkata destroyers,2 shivalik frigates, kamotra class ASW corvette, and akula attack sub.

With the range of brahmos being around 600km,the pakis are doomed.

Pak Navy has inducted a 3rd FAC(M) - PNS Himmat

Other updates:

Earlier, MD KS&EW Rear Admiral Syed Hasan Nasir Shah HI(M), in his welcome address said that this state of the art ship is another landmark in the history of Pak-China cooperation in the field of defence production, as it has been built in collaboration with our Chinese friends M/s CSOC and Xingang Shipyard.

He said that during the recent past, KS&EW has successfully completed various projects for Pakistan Navy. As a result, KS&EW has been awarded a number of other projects including 17,000 Tons Fleet Tanker, 02 x Maritime Patrol Vessels (MPVs), Indigenously Designed Fast Attack Craft (Missile), 2 x 32 Tons BP Tugs and a Multi Purpose Barge which are at various stages of construction.

He informed that contracts of 3 x new projects have also been signed prior closing of last financial year which include 3,000 Tons Survey Ship and 1,900 Tons OPVs for Pakistan Navy and 2 x FRP Boats for Pakistan Customs.

Vector Aerospace starts delivery of Sea Kings to PN:

On 24 May, Vector Aerospace started work on returning to service three Sea KINGs to the Pakistan Navy. They are part of a separate contract between the UK MOD and the Pakistan Navy for seven former UK MoD Sea KINGs signed last year.

A visit to the facility just two days before the sale of Vector was announced, found work on the three Sea KINGs well under way. They comprise a yellow former RAF Search and Rescue Sea KING HAR3A and two Royal Navy HC4 ‘Junglies,’ which are expected to be flying by late-August.

Vector’s Steve Tamblyn, the Pakistan Navy Sea KING Project Manager, said: “The first one is due to fly in mid-August, then followed five days later by the second, and then five days after that by the third. “

The other four aircraft are being used for spares. A HC4 and HAR 3A, will be shipped to Karachi, along with the three airworthy examples in October. The other two HC4s have been completed stripped of parts which will be sent alongside the five helicopters.

A team of up to six personnel will go to Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) MEHRAN on the edge of Karachi to rebuild the helicopters and support the first test flights. An official induction ceremony is expected to take place at PNS MEHRAN in early December. Working alongside Vector’s team is a four man Pakistan Navy technical team led by Lt.Cdr. Asif. The three helicopters will work alongside six Mk45/45As which in recent years have been upgraded with SEASPRAY 5300 AESA maritime radars in the ASW/ASuW role.

MORE SEA KING WORK
In the last couple of years, after the last UK Sea KINGs were retired Vector has worked on a number of the legacy helicopter for European customers. In late 2015, the company prepared three Sea KINGs for the Norway and Belgium Air Forces, which were flown to their new homes before being used for spares. It also sourced six Sea KINGs for spares to support the German Navy Sea KING fleet under a NATO Support and Procurement Agency contract. Vector has also been contracted to re-paint two former Royal Navy Sea KING Mk 5s for Portland-based Helicopter Operations (Heli-Ops), which has a deal to train German Navy Sea KING SAR pilots.

I fully support IN and IAF's decision to pursue second hand Jaguars and Sea Kings. Infact we should have bought these Sea Kings in order to deny them to PN.

Dream run for PMSA continues with 2 more ships

https://www.thenews.com.pk/print/231617-Two-island-class-ships-inducted-into-PMSA

Two Island Class ships, PMSS SABQAT and RAFAQAT, were formally inducted and commissioned into the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency at a ceremony on Thursday.

After serving in the US Coast Guards, the ships have undergone a complete overhaul in the United States prior to their delivery and commissioning into the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA).

Vice Admiral Tayyab Ali Dogar graced the occasion as chief guest, and senior military and government officials, and the US consul general in Karachi attended the ceremony. These ships have been equipped with capabilities to effectively undertake patrolling, surveillance, search and rescue and other law enforcement operations. The crew members of the ships were trained at US Coast Guards facilities.

During his welcome address, Rear Admiral Jamil Akhtar, director general of the PMSA, said that for the growing needs of the enhanced area of responsibility of the PMSA’s evolving maritime challenges, law enforcement imperatives and national obligations of SAR, a capacity enhancement plan approved by the federal government was smoothly proceeding.

He described the induction of a record number of platforms in a single calendar year as unprecedented in the history of the PMSA. He added that the acquisition of all these platforms had been a challenging process having peculiar complications with regard to manning, budgetary approvals, crew training and their blending into the existing the repair, maintenance and support regimes. However, all this had been made easier and smooth through extra efforts and a focused approach by the PMSA.

Vice Admiral Tayyab Ali Dogar, in his address, congratulated the PMSA on the induction of the two ships after the earlier induction of three maritime patrol vessels into the fleet within a span of just eight months.

He declared this a proud and historic moment for the PMSA and everyone involved. He said that PMSS SABQAT and RAFAQAT were a new chapter in the developmental plans of the PMSA and the two ships would serve the country and the PMSA effectively in the coming decades.

He hoped that these platforms would surely strengthen the operational capacity and offer flexibility in law enforcement by the PMSA.

Admiral Dogar said that such developments were encouraging for the maritime sector, which was gaining requisite focus and attention. He further said that maritime security apparatus was also cruising up at a positive and consistent pace to the growing demands of maritime domains, especially after the announcement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The chief guest also visited various sections of the ships where he was briefed by commanding officers about the capabilities of the ships.

On one side U.S. is pretending to act tough against Pakistan and threatening to stop economic aid to Pakistan. While on the other hand giving them US coast guard vessels. Where is the credibility on part of U.S.? I don't trust U.S. anymore.

This is a long game, need not judge on every small thing that happens. And more over if the boats are coming now, it means negotiations started during Obama period.

Our focus should be only on building our military capacity and economy, rest will fall into place.

Pakistan has revived AShM capability from Sea Kings. They used to be equipped with Exocets earlier but I now I strongly suspect Chinese missiles have been added.

http://indianexpress.com/article/pa...i-ship-missile-into-arabian-sea-4857518/lite/

Pakistan said it conducted a successful test of the firing of an anti-ship missile from a Sea King helicopter in northern Arabian Sea on Saturday. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah witnessed the missile firing demonstration, a press release issued by the navy said.

With China's help PN continues on a rapid path to add capabilities and capacities.

The contract for new Frigates is cloaked in secrecy and so are the Zarb and Harba missiles.

http://quwa.org/2017/10/08/outgoing...purchase-china-harba-surface-surface-missile/

In his speech during the change-of-command ceremony of the Pakistan Navy, outgoing Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah outlined the Navy’s modernization efforts, which appear to include the acquisition of new frigates from China.

The statement was made in the context of new acquisitions, wherein Zakaullah detailed the procurement of eight new air-independent propulsion (AIP) submarines (i.e. Hangor II-class), additional Azmat-class fast attack missile craft – also known as FAC(M) – and offshore patrol vessels (OPV) from Damen Shipyards.

Zakaullah had added that an agreement had been reached with China for the acquisition of new frigates. Additional details, such as the design, displacement and/or desired capabilities were not disclosed.

Of the prior naval contracts, Zakaullah confirmed that work was underway on the implementation of the submarine order (which is due for completion by 2028) and that one of the two Damen OPVs will be built at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KSEW).

In tandem, the outgoing CNS also outlined efforts being undertaken to modernize the Pakistan Naval Air Arm. The PN ATR-72s that have been undergoing maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) conversion at Rheinland Air Service (RAS) in Germany are due in January 2018, while the additional Sea King helicopters acquired from the U.K (and refurbished by Vector Aerospace) will be inducted by the end of 2017.

Speaking of efforts to build the Navy’s offensive capabilities, Zakaullah had touched upon the Babur 3 sub-launched cruise missile (SLCM) and Zarb shore-based anti-ship missile (AShM), which had been disclosed in January 2017 and April 2016, respectively.

Zakaullah also revealed the existence of a new surface-to-surface missile (SSM) designated “Harba”, which he stated was ready for use. The outgoing CNS praised the domestic defence industry for bringing each of those programs to fruition. Specifics of the Harba SSM are not known.

Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah was succeeded by Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi as the Pakistan Navy’s Chief of Naval Staff.

Good news continues to pour in for Pak Navy.

They have two 75m Corvettes from Swiftships USA on order. Plus 1 special operations craft already delivered to PN by the same company.

The corvettes are a mini-LCS design:

and by coincidence look like a upscaled version of Azmat class FACMs.

http://swiftships.com/vessels/75-meter-swift-corvette/

The special operations craft is surely to be employed by Pak Marines in the creek areas:

I wonder why PN doesn't operate retired PLAN vessels.

They don't even like the brand new chinese ships. If USN had not said no to more OHP's , they would have got them instead of F-22p's.

I doubt US will provide any meaningful weapon with these ships. No SeaRAM or RIM-66 missiles. They will try to get some exocet or chinese missiles and do a juggad. I doubt IN will worry about these ships. Its the subs that IN will try to neutralize. Just look at the number of ASuW excercise IN is doing.

The island class ships are all of 170 tonnes with speed less than 30 knots . Heck the interceptors that ICGS is inducting is 110 Tonnes with speeds of 40+ knots.
