ISLAMABAD (AP) — The Pakistani military is accusing forces from neighboring India of crossing the boundary between the two sides' forces in Kashmir and attacking a Pakistani border post, killing a soldier.

The military's public relations office said in a statement Sunday that another Pakistani soldier was critically wounded in the incident early Sunday.

They said troops are still exchanging gunfire in the area.

They said the raid crossed the "line of control" dividing the Indian and Pakistani sides of Kashmir, a flashpoint of violence between these two neighbors for decades.

Both claim the region as their own.

A 2003 cease-fire ended the most recent round of fighting.

Each side occasionally accuses the other of violating it by lobbing mortars or shooting across the LOC, but accusations of cross-border raids are rare.

To be honest this wouldn't be the first time India would have done this in recent times,if the news is infact true.
In dec 2010 a group of "jihadists" attacked a forward post of the Indian army in the northern reaches of LOC capturing 2jawans and laterbrutally behading them. Seeing that no response by IA would embolden the swines, the IA SF was tasked with taking care of the revenge.
About a week later a section of the Paras(SF) ingressed into POK and attacked the Pakistan outpost from where the attackers came and killed everyone at the post.
This resulted in a sustained ceasefire violation lasting 10 days.Maybe some of the senior members would be able to shed some more light on this.

So the Pak soldier was killed in a fair fight..good.

Is it possible that the Indian army on seeing him with his 10 feet tall demigod soldiers (read the pak mujahid army) fled the pak territory

The Pakistani military's public relations office said the two sides were still exchanging fire in the area.

It said Indian troops had "physically raided a checkpost named Sawan Patra".

"Pakistan army troops effectively responded to the attack," it said, adding that Indian troops had left behind weapons as they retreated.

Col Brijesh Pandey, a spokesman for the Indian army in Kashmir, told the Associated Press news agency that Pakistani troops had "initiated unprovoked firing" with mortar shells and automatic weapons at Indian military posts. One civilian home was destroyed, he said.

"We retaliated only using small arms. We believe it was clearly an attempt on their part to facilitate infiltration of militants," Col Pandey said.

There has been a ceasefire in Kashmir since late 2003.

India suspended a peace process with Pakistan following attacks by Pakistan-based militants in Mumbai in 2008. Negotiations resumed in February last year.

True but you will have to probably recalibrate this strategy sooner or later.
The fact on the ground is that the ratio of casualty has been changing for quite some time now,in our favour.
Unlike earlier when the casualties were in the ratio 1:1 or even less for the IA, now it has improved a lot for the IA in kashmir,around 2-3:1 nowadays.
The higher spending per soldier of the IA(2:1) is finally giving back the returns on the ground.
