NEW DELHI: A senior Pakistani diplomat and his driver suffered minor injuries after they were allegedly assaulted by a biker involved in an accident with the diplomat's car on Monday evening. The incident led to Pakistan lodging a strong protest and seeking greater security for its diplomats in the capital.

According to the police, Zargham Raza, first secretary at the Pakistan High Commission, was returning home to Vasant Kunj when his Toyota SUV hit a bike coming from the wrong direction at Ber Sarai, near the JNU campus in south Delhi.

Police said the biker, Rohit, allegedly roughed up Raza and his driver, Haider Zaman, also a Pakistani citizen. Rohit, a resident of Ber Sarai village, was travelling with his aunt, Roshni. Both sustained minor injuries as the bike fell.

Sources confirmed that Pakistan has demanded a thorough inquiry into the attack. In the protest note sent to the ministry of external affairs, Pakistan also demanded that security be enhanced for its High Commission and personnel "in accordance with the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations and international diplomatic practices".

While the Pakistanis described the incident as most unfortunate and regrettable, Indian government sources said that it seemed to be a "minor" incident caused by an altercation between the driver of the SUV (89 CD 99) and a couple riding a motorcycle.

A source in the Vasant Vihar police station said the accused, Rohit, had been detained for questioning.

Rohit allegedly got into an argument with the Toyota's driver after the collision. A scuffle ensued between the two. The diplomat reportedly intervened trying to separate the two but was punched by Rohit, witnesses said.

Soon, a crowd began to gather at the spot. Minutes later, the diplomat left. Police arrived and took Rohit into custody. Later, the diplomat and his driver were taken to hospital for a medical examination. A case under appropriate sections will be registered after recording of statements, police said.

so it was Toyota SUV hit a bike

New Delhi: Two people, including a motorcyclist, have been arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with the assault on a Pakistani diplomat after an accident in New Delhi. They have been charged under Section 279 (rash and negligent driving) and Section 336 (act of endangering life).

The diplomat, Zargham Raza, had alleged that a group of 10-15 people slapped him after the accident on Monday evening. Pakistan had lodged a complaint with India over the incident.

According to Delhi Police, the car of Mr Raza, the First Secretary of Pakistan's High Commission, hit a motorcycle in Ber Sarai near the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus in South Delhi and the pillion rider, a woman, fell down and sustained bruises.
A scuffle ensued, and Mr Raza's driver got minor injuries, the police said. The diplomat got out and tried to separate the warring parties and that's when he got pushed around by several men, they added.

The relative of the girl who was injured said Mr Raza's driver was drunk. "My sister-in-law was sitting on the motorcycle and my son was driving it. As he drove the car past the bike, the driver stopped the car and pulled my sister-in-law from the bike. She is hurt. The driver was drunk. The owner of the car tried to stop him, but he was getting mad. He (the owner) even said it was the driver's fault. Please don't fight.

The cops later took Mr Raza away to a police station to prevent the crowd from manhandling him. They later questioned Mr Raza's driver.

Sources in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), however, told NDTV that there were no damages and no one was hurt, but the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi claims that the diplomat was chased and beaten up by 10-15 people.

"Our First Secretary and his driver both of whom sustained serious injuries have been provided medical treatment and an FIR has also been lodged," Aizaz Ahmed, Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesman told NDTV.

The scream, wail and squeal for anything and everything!

The cause the issue and then squeal as if they are the victim!

They create the Islamic fundamentalists and then they squeal like pigs being taken to slaughter and wail that they are the greatest victims of terrorism!

Pakistan summons Indian Deputy High Commissioner, lodges protest
Pakistan's Foreign Office today called in the Indian Deputy High Commissioner to protest against the road-rage incident involving a Pakistani diplomat and his driver in New Delhi.
The Foreign Office conveyed its "serious concerns" to Deputy High Commissioner Gopal Baglay over yesterday's incident in Delhi in which First Secretary Zirgham Raza and his driver Haider Zaman were allegedly "physically abused".

The Indian diplomat was "informed that such incidents are uncalled for, unnecessary and do not augur well for the overall bilateral relations, especially at a time when the leadership of the two countries is desirous of improving and normalizing relations", said a statement from Foreign Office spokesman Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry.

The statement said the Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai had called his Pakistani counterpart earlier today to "express his regrets over this unfortunate incident and assured him that the matter would be thoroughly investigated".

However, Ministry of External Affairs sources said in New Delhi that no regret was expressed as it was a matter of an accident.

"Ranjan Mathai explained to his counterpart that this was a traffic accident," a source said adding the call was made because the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan was in New Delhi and the Pakistani High Commissioner to India was in his country.

The statement quoted the Indian Foreign Secretary as saying that two persons involved in the incident had been arrested and an FIR had been lodged.

"While noting the actions being taken by the Government of India in resolving this matter, the Government of Pakistan calls upon it to ensure that such incidents do not recur and reminds the Indian Government of its obligation under diplomatic conventions and norms of providing adequate safety and security of all Pakistan High Commission personnel, premises and vehicles," the statement by Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said.

Pakistan has alleged that the diplomat and his driver were assaulted by a group of people in New Delhi.

However, the Indian government today said police had responded promptly and extended due courtesies to the Pakistani diplomat, who along with his driver was allegedly roughed up after their vehicle hit a motorcycle in South Delhi.

Zirgham Raza, Pakistan First Secretary (Trade) suffered "minor bruises" in a brawl when his car and a motorcycle were involved in a "freak accident" in Ber Serai at around 7.25 PM yesterday when he was returning to his Vasant Kunj home.

"Police responded promptly to calls for assistance and escorted the diplomats to safety from the crowd of onlookers who had gathered at the site of incident.

"The police extended the Pakistan High Commission officials due courtesies and escorted them to the AIIMS trauma centre and offered medical assistance and examination," official spokesperson in the MEA said.

If Pakistan is so much worried, She should instruct her diplomats to stay inside their embassy compound and not venture out.
Traffic can't be stopped during their travel.
And when you are driving drunk then you are at fault.
