No need to troll. Once our helicopter also strayed in pakistani territory. I hope the authorities conduct their investigations quickly about the reason for this incident, and if no foul play is suspected by them, the soldier should be returned back to his country.

Poonch: A Pakistani soldier was arrested by the Indian army in Kerni sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir today.

Arif Ali, who belongs to the Frontier Force of the Pakistani army, was arrested around 6 this morning. No weapons were found in his possession.

During questioning by army officials, Ali has reportedly said that he was hoping for asylum in India. According to sources, he has also told his interrogators that lack of basic amenities - like electricity and proper supply of ration - has led to frustration among his colleagues deployed at the Line of Control or LoC. He has also complained about his seniors not granting them leaves.

Sources in the army said he would soon be sent back to Pakistan.

The Frontier Force Regiment of the Pakistan Army guards the LoC opposite the Poonch sector.

In October 2011, Pakistan had allowed an Indian helicopter that had strayed across from Kargil to return to India within four hours.

Pakistani soldier arrested in Poonch, did he defect?

Poonch, July 12 (ANI): The Indian Army on Thursday arrested a Pakistani soldier near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch District.
According to reports, the soldier, identified as Arif Ali, belongs to the 25 Frontier Force of the Pakistani Army.
The Pakistani soldier, who was arrested at around 6 a.m. today, is being interrogated.
The Indian Army personnel seized two SIM cards from him. No weapons were, however, found in his possession.
Certain media reports quote sources as saying that the Pakistani soldier has told the interrogators that he had defected to India to seek asylum since there was a lack of basic amenities in Pakistan. (ANI)

If he is from the NLI, and if his defection claims are true, I would request GoI to consider giving him asylum, and start a media blitz.

We need to encourage more defections, house them in camps near the LoC, and raise a force, that can be used against Pakistan in a future war.

Guys, let us be clear on this. It is not a matter of if, but when this war breaks out.

I didn't know there was a thread on this. I posted it in the puki idiotic musings thread :p
Excerpt:
On further interrogation, Ali, said he is the son of Bashir of Qwetta and that he crossed over to India as he was "frustrated" by the lack of basic amenities like electricity and sufficient ration, reports said.
Ali claimed that he and his fellow soldiers were also disturbed by the same, leading to his taking the decision to cross over to India.

The man is a spy and no less.

If he defected, he would have brought some weapon or papers that would 'please' the Indian Army intelligence.

Somehow he forgot his family too ?

Is this a kind of a joke ? coz the reason he stated are something common there..

All are right suspicions and it indeed seems like a spy case. But I'd still use this to make fun of our amenity less neighbors :p
