The Americans are not going to allow the PAF to share the data on F 16s with the Chinese.

There could be some home made data link, but again that would involve both the parties i.e the Americans and the Chinese to integrate the system. Internationally business is not done n this way that the source codes are openly shared, at least not by the Americans.

This is not some fanboy fantasy that we are talking about here. Even with our Sukhoi's the Russians had to be involved when we had to integrate Israeli electronics.

No it doesn't. This was discussed to death in the forum. Shiphone proved that the ZDK-03s delivered to PAF were slotted arrays and not AESA.

AESA is in development today.

There are two models of the ZDK-03. One with a regular slotted array, delivered to PAF, which looks like this-

Just one look and you can tell the AESA version has 3 fixed arrays while the slotted planar array system has 2 radars on a rotodome.

And Jf17 is going to be the mainstay for PAF as well. Minimum 150 JF17s (can go upto 250) vs 63 F16s.

ZDK-03 (with Mechanically steered slotted planar array) and SAAB-Eriye (with AESA) cannot act as a standalone command and control post.
Both rely on ground based station for processing of data and relaying it to other aircraft's.
