There is no doubt that there are too many scams that are surfacing because of a proactive media and more so, TimesNow and that crusader, Goswami. While one cannot fault him, yet every evening he is becoming a harbinger of bad news!

Apparently, CBI has lost its credibility and is more of an instrument to harass whoever the govt wants to put in line. It is well established a fact since Laloo of the Fodder infamy, Mayawati with her statues and Taj Mahal land scam, Mulayam with some scam or the other are moving around with coc.kiness instead of being on the run, if the heat was really on them. In short, nothing is being done. Further, the CBI's record of indictments area abysmally low vis a vis the effort put in.

If the CBI was carrying out its task honestly and without political pressure, then there would have been no hue and cry for a JPC, though in the same breath it would not be wrong to assume that politics too is playing a part.

This demand for a JPC is for the Raja's Mother of Scams. That is just the tip of the iceberg. JPCs should be there for all scams - CWG, the appt of the tainted CVC, the CJI telling a lie about Raja attempting to influence a judge, Raja and 2G, Adarsh Housing. Radia tapes and every other scam.

Likewise the the Karnataka scandal should also be investigated by an independent body.

It is time that we cleanse the system and clear the stables of crooked politicians, bureaucrats, media personalities, military men, police and every other functionary who has had his hand it the till.

Leadership is the necessity of the hour. The PM is said to be a clean Joe. Good. He should use his moral authority and scrape the barrel and bring the scoundrels to book. He cannot whimper and wail and duck the issues as he is doing.

Or hand over the reins to Ms Sonia Gandhi, who apparently does a better job of it, if one is to believe the Congress spokespersons like Tiwari, Singhvi and Nutrajan.

Lastly, file an FIR on Digvijay Singh for loose talk and sowing communal disharmony!

We have enough troubles to sort out and so let us not add to our misery with communal divides.

No one should be a sacred cow!

Our PM is not honest as people use to believe him to be if one goes by this thought provoking article. Food for thought.

Being head of the government he cannot run away from his responsibilities. he was very well aware of Raja's agenda as telecom ministers. He cannot be blamed for wrongdoing of congress party members but if any minister does anything wrong PM is responsible for that .

I don't think the PM is dishonest in terms of any financial skulduggery.

It is just that he is an ineffectual leader. He is more concerned about his own personal image than running the country with an iron hand. Any decent man would.

However, it is also true that given the political rabble that he presides over, decency will only germinate greater chaos, deceit and thuggery.

A resolute leadership is what alone can control the pitiable political milieu, not ashamed to indulge in crimes of the worst nature, that any Prime Minister inherits in this country. Our current PM so far has not shown the requisite spark. Hence, the political minnows and their henchmen, are making hay while the sun shines,. Kalmadi continues to run a riot, Raja smiles and scams continue unabated.

The oft repeated view that the Congress spokespersons air on TV that these are the sins of 'coalition politics' that one has to live with, is totally disingenuous! One wonders if Rome burns it is acceptable an excuse just to justify the desire to warm their seats in power and an excuse for scamsters in all fields of governance to run a riot and ruin the country! If that is so, what's all this about Congress being a party that cares for the 'am admi'. Funny way to show love for the 'am admi' wherein the money that could have brought succour is actually lining the pockets of brigands claiming to be the reps of the people!.

To add insult to injury, they are dividing the country with false claims that they cannot substantiate. A case in point is Digvijay Singh claiming Karkare rang him up that he was under threat! Why would Karare ring a non entity like Digvijay Singh? He has no role in the government. Indeed,he would have rung up Chidambaram instead, since the latter is the Home Minister and a very proactive man, who can call a spade a spade! Digvijay Singh, in comparison, is a loose cannon, bent on dividing the country and sabotaging acts of the Govt.

Taking a "serious view" of Shunglu Committee's findings on alleged irregularities in awarding broadcast rights of Commonwealth Games, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday warned of "stern action" against the guilty. "The Prime Minister has taken a serious view of the findings in the first report of the Shunglu Committee on Host Broadcasting," media advisor to the Prime Minister, Harish Khare, said in a statement.
The report has been sent to cabinet secretary K M Chandrasekhar for "urgent examination".

"The cabinet secretary has been asked to submit his report within a week with his considered recommendation on the follow up steps. Stern action is likely to be taken on the basis of the cabinet secretary's recommendations," the statement said.

"Chief executive officer of the Prasar Bharti B S Lalli has already been suspended by the Government," it said.

Lalli, a 1971-batch IAS officer, is facing allegations of irregularities in the Rs 246 crore deal struck by public broadcasting body which included the controversial decision to give the contract for broadcast of the Games to a UK-based firm SIS Live.

Shunglu had submitted its interim report to the PMO on Monday on alleged irregularities in awarding broadcasting rights during Games.

The Prime Minister has extended till March 31 the term of the panel to submit its full report.

"The total project costs worth Rs 28,000 crore. How do you expect me to complete the probe within three months," V K Shunglu, a former Comptroller and Auditor General, told PTI while replying to questions.

The Committee was set up by the Prime Minister on October 25 last year and asked to submit its findings on financial and managerial lapses within three months.

Former secretary of Department of Personnel and Training, Shantanu Consul, is also a member of the panel.

The committee has collected documents related to CWG projects from different central and state government departments.

Several projects undertaken by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Public Works Department (PWD), Central Public Works Department (CPWD), RITES, Sports Ministry, Urban Development Ministry and Games Organising Committee are under the scanner of enforcement, investigating and vigilance agencies for alleged bunglings.

Besides, the CBI has registered four FIRs naming some of the close aides of OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi for alleged criminal conspiracy and financial irregularities in executing the contracts.

The CBI has also questioned Kalmadi and OC secretary general Lalit Bhanot among others in connection with the cases.

The mega sporting event was organised between October 3-14 last year.
