Obama Cancels Russia Visit

There is nothing now that Putin seems to want that Obama can give him. Or, to put it differently, the things Putin wants Obama has already given him: a de facto veto on American policies, from Syria to missile defenses, and quiescence on Russia's authoritarian descent. The Obama administration has compromised a core U.S. interest -- the ability to take action unilaterally or with like-minded allies -- in return for Russian cooperation on second-order issues like Iran sanctions (which should be just one element of an Iran policy). Realists would never make that trade.

Good God... The current administration's policy with Russia is embarrassingly amateurish, almost childish. Come to think about it, by the time Obama leaves office, Putin will have chewed and spat-out some 16 years worth of US presidents; and now we're reduced to clucking impotently at Vlad about pet liberal issues.

Come-on Obama... are you SERIOUSLY gonna nag Russia about gay-rights!!? And as for Snowden... some people just need to fu<king grow-up. So one of our guys defected; this shit happens from time to time, so stop crying over spilt-milk.
