North Korea held the Air Force exercises in strikes on US aircraft carriers
# DPRK
Air North Korean forces in the presence of Kim Chen country leader Eun held views of combat missions, the purpose of which openly recognized driving range of US aircraft carriers, according to a Monday report Korean Central News Agency (KCNA ), RIA Novosti reported.
Agency sets out performance at the show of the Air Force Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Gvan Hoka, which he called the current review of "significant challenge" to "destroy at one blow any purpose, including enemy aircraft carriers" in the preparation of the corresponding order. As commander said exercises are also designed to "further encourage the whole army at the end of the struggle for the reunification of the motherland."

As KCNA says Kim Jong-un was satisfied with the review of aviation and ordered to strengthen the combat capability of the Air Force of the country.
US and North Korea are technically at war, since after the military conflict of 1950-1953 only a ceasefire agreement was signed between them. All subsequent attempts to Pyongyang to conclude a peace treaty in the United States had been rejected.

In recent years, military tensions between the two countries further deteriorated against the backdrop of North Korea's nuclear and missile tests that it carries out under the pretext of protecting the American threat, despite the sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council. The United States recently sent to the Sea of Japan nuclear aircraft carrier "Carl Vinson" to deter North Korea, and then repair another aircraft carrier "Ronald Reagan" was completed in the Japanese port of Yokosuka.

What The U.S. Wants You To Forget About North Korea

but what brainwashed americans think now...

because North Korea invaded and nearly took all of South Korea so the US went in to liberate South Korea and then try and destroy North Korea forever (and by doing so would've saved countless millions from the Kim regime) but then China and Russia pushed back the US led forces and brought the whole thing to a stalemate right around where the war started (the 38th parallel).

An interesting perspective, an interview with North Korea's ambassador to India:

Basically, while Kim Jong Un might be totally bonkers, they do have a legitimate fear that the US wants to make a Libya / Iraq / Syria out of NK. Who would want that?

This WION is not bad (except for the silly name). Generally nationalistic (Zee group after all), good production values, low-noise. It's all that Republic could've been - though I guess they serve a different function. Their interview with Assad was also very interesting.

North Korea missile test: US ready to use ‘considerable military force’

The United States vowed Wednesday to use military force to defend the country and its allies against a North Korean intercontinental ballistic missile if necessary, but said it prefers to use its clout in international trade to address the growing threat.

In a hard-hitting speech at an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council following Pyongyang’s successful launch of an ICBM, U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley said that “the world has become a more dangerous place” and China has a key role in promoting peace.

China is responsible for 90 percent of trade with North Korea and Haley warned that Beijing risks its massive trade with the United States if its business dealings with Pyongyang violate U.N. sanctions.

She said the United States doesn’t seek conflict, “in fact we seek to avoid it.” But she said the launch of an ICBM “is a clear and sharp military escalation” and the U.S. is prepared to use its “considerable military forces” to defend itself and its allies “if we must.”

But Haley said the Trump administration prefers “not to go in that direction” but to use its “great capabilities in the area of trade” to address “those who threaten us and … those who supply the threats.”

Haley said she had a long conversation Wednesday morning with President Donald Trump about U.S. clout when it comes to trade.

Until recently, American officials had been describing China as a partner in their strategy to prevent North Korea from developing the ability to strike the U.S. mainland with nuclear weapons. But Trump has expressed growing irritation at Beijing’s reluctance to tighten the screw on Pyongyang over its nuclear and missile programs.

“There are countries that are allowing, even encouraging trade with North Korea, in violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions,” Haley said.

“Such countries would also like to continue their trade arrangements with the United States,” she said. “That’s not going to happen. Our attitude on trade changes when countries do not take international security threats seriously.”

Haley said the seven U.N. sanctions resolutions haven’t gotten North Korea to change its “destructive course,” and she stressed that much of the burden of enforcing the resolutions rests with China because of its overwhelming trade with its neighbor.

Declaring that it’s time to do more, Haley announced that the U.S. will put forward a new Security Council resolution in the coming days “that raises the international response in a way that is proportionate to North Korea’s escalation.”

She gave no details but said that if the council is united the international community can cut off major sources of hard currency to North Korea, restrict oil to their military and weapons programs, increase air and maritime restrictions, and hold senior officials accountable.

“If we act together we can still prevent a catastrophe,” Haley said. “We can rid the world of a great threat. If we fail to act in a serious way there will be a different response.”

China and Russia, whose presidents met in Moscow on Tuesday and will be attending the G20 summit with Trump in Hamburg, Germany, later this week where North Korea is certain to be a key issue, proposed a plan for defusing tensions on the Korean Peninsula that their ambassadors reiterated to the council.

The China-Russia plan includes a suspension-for-suspension, a North Korea moratorium on nuclear and missile tests while the United States and South Korea refrain from large-scale military exercises, and a roadmap to peace and denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

China’s U.N. ambassador, Liu Jieyi, did not respond to Haley and made no mention of U.S.-China trade.

Instead, he strongly urged North Korea to stop “any rhetoric and action that might further exacerbate the tension of the Korean Peninsula.”

“We call on all parties concerned to exercise restraint, avoid provocative actions and belligerent rhetoric, demonstrate the will for unconditional dialogue and work actively together to defuse the tension,” Liu said. “China is firmly opposed to chaos and confrontation on the peninsula. Military means must not be an option in this regard.”

Russian Deputy Ambassador Vladimir Safronkov echoed the call for “restraint rather than provocation and war mongering.” He stressed that “any attempts to justify a military solution are inadmissible” and will lead “to unpredictable consequences for the region.”

“Attempts to economically strangle North Korea are equally unacceptable as millions of people are in great humanitarian need,” Safronkov said.

He also signaled that the United States will likely have a tough time getting Security Council approval for a new sanctions resolution.

“All must acknowledge that sanctions will not resolve the issue,” Safronkov said. “In that manner, we simply rush towards a stalemate.”

“Just as any attempts to resolve the situation through force are inadmissible,” he said the international community needs to take into account North Korea’s concerns for security.

Haley asked for the floor at the end of the debate and retorted: “If you are happy with North Korea’s actions, veto it.”

“If you see this for what it is which is North Korea showing its muscle, then you need to stand strong and vote with the international community to strengthen sanctions,” she said.

“If you choose not to we will go our own path,” Haley said. “But it makes no sense to not join together on this threat (from) North Korea. They have not had any care for Russia or China in this. …They’re not going to listen to anything that you say.”

In her speech, Haley stressed that the United States “will not have patience for stalling or talking our way down to a watered-down resolution”

“We will work with China,” she said. “We will work with every country that wants peace, but we will not repeat the inadequate approaches of the past that have brought us to this dark day.”

South Korea wants India’s help in tensions with North Korea | world-news
By Pramit Pal Chaudhuri , Hindustan Times, New Delhi

The new government in Seoul hopes to be a partner in Make in India, smart cities, infrastructure projects and defence.

Updated: Jul 06, 2017 22:03 IST

Changing the mindset of North Korea’s ruler Kim Jong-un needs concerted efforts by all international players, including India, said Enna Park, South Korea’s ambassador for public diplomacy.

Park also spoke about how the new government in Seoul hoped to be a partner in Make in India, the smart cities and other infrastructure projects, and in defence.

North Korea’s maverick ruler, Kim Jong-un, she said, was more dangerous than his father. The latter was prepared to negotiate about the end of North Korea’s nuclear arsenal. But the son wants his country to be “recognised as a nuclear weapons state” and that denuclearisation is not negotiable.

Kim’s intention is to use his ability to threaten the US and the region to get leverage with Washington. He wants to offer to “freeze his nuclear programme” in return for economic assistance, regime guarantees and a peace treaty with the US. The ambassador said, “I don’t think the Americans will accept. [President] Trump has said he will not allow this to happen.” But the new Seoul government wants a dialogue with Pyongyang as “sanctions cannot be the only policy”.

As for China, she said, “it must recognise that if it allows North Korea to continue its nuclear programme, the whole region will placed in jeopardy.”

The US is pushing China to play a constructive role because it is the only country with “effective leverage” on North Korea. She denied that the new Seoul regime was not going to reverse an earlier decision to allow a US theatre missile defence system. “The decision will not be change, but due process has to be followed,” she said.

Park has come to India following the election victory of South Korean president, Moon Jae-in, and the impeachment of his predecessor. Seoul is seeking to have a “special strategic partnership” with New Delhi that would include more regular summit-level meetings, talks between the foreign and defence ministries of the two countries, a dialogue of the national security councils and a closer partnership in foreign aid in third countries.

“South Korea would be a most effective partner to work with when it comes to Make in India as it is particularly strong in manufacturing,” she said. Of Korea’s $ 5.8 billion of FDI in India, $ 3.4 billion was in manufacturing. She noted her country had already built a number of smart cities and South Korean firms were looking for partners to upgrade India’s railroad stations and construct high-speed trains.

A framework agreement for a $ 10 billion fund in concessional loans to build infrastructure has been agreed upon by the two finance ministers.

She said President Moon Jae-in’s government was dedicated to a foreign policy more embedded in the democratic process. The previous Seoul government carried out foreign policy without any public consultation. “We are practising people’s diplomacy,” and our decisions will be a two-way street with our public.”
