It is the hard truth. At best there can be a multipolar world but no one can actually pose a threat to the west. For the 'non-west' is a mess. Look at BRICS. Two members in BRICS can't even solve their border issues and they are gonna take on the west?

Most of the non-western world is primitive and politically naive. Besides, they can only fight among themselves. Look at how Muslim countries in the ME fight against each other. Or how China acts like a bully with its neighbors. Non-western countries are basically high school brats - silly and irrelevant - whereas the west is Al Capone. It is a no contest.

So people should work toward establishing a multipolar world where power will at least be diluted. In short, more globalization, less nationalism. Then there will be some sort of equality.

The fact is india is not against west and India should not be just because we can't believe china , pak ,shri lanka from recent activities we can't even trust Russia to so we should block our ways from west because U.S. is equally powerful like Russia and France like china and NATO don't forget it . so there is no need to challenge west we should be at both of side .

Wait a minute...who wants to challenge west? Did anyone challenge the last superpower whose Sun never used to set...These superpowers gets challenged from within and lose their capacity to control the rest of the world...and that's the challenge west is starting to feel. Its just a natural process.

We should challenge the aliens in our parallel universe. I heard they live on the planet of the apes.

If Russia minus Soviet Union emerges as a power base, then it will be welcome news. US is out of control and is not managing the power at its disposal as the only super power well.

US overconfidence (after 25 years lapse of Vietnam defeat) has overgrown. All these little states of Panama, Libya, Yugoslavia, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and now Ukraine a little while back Georgia were either directly invaded or surrogates used to create turmoil by US.

This would not have been possible had the Soviet Union as a powerful adversary was alive and kicking or now rising Russia steps upto the challenge.

Now the Americans and its allies have a stranglehold over science & technology, finance and all international institutions. What they do not control is the military might and hearts and minds of the people. Russia has as many nuclear missiles or bombers as US has. US submarines can threaten the world but in return mutual destruction is assured.

The worst for US is that 1.2 Billion Muslim do not like US, I am not sure that 1.2 Billion Indians and 1.3 billion Chinese like the US that much. That should put US on the defensive a lot. All they are awaiting is emergence off another super power. That idea of multipolar world is not feasible, it is an idea when two equal powers need an ally, then only multipolar world becomes a decisive factor.

There is one draw back, Russia with 180 million souls is never going to be a match for 300 million North Americans and 300 million Europeans. Economically it is a total mismatch. But that mismatch existed when 60 million Germans held 800 million Americans, Russians and rest of Europeans at ransom in the twentieth century (WWI &II). But, Russians are not Germans. Although a leader has emerged in Russia, but he is being handicapped by total lack of economic activity in Russia. The leader also does not know how to put people back to work to get far ahead in science & technology and economically. That is a big handicap.

A way exists, that Russians and American involve in blame game in either over Ukraine (remember US is as much responsible for civil war in Ukraine as Russia) or an other place. They come to blows, literally. Nuclear confrontation begins. The sleeping passion of Russians is awakened. A clear statement by Russia that a nuclear war is in the offing, if US does not leave Ukraine alone in other words, all that indirect support to the Ukrainian government from US is withdrawn. It is possible that afraid of nuclear war, US withdraws and Russians get the sense of victory and begin the task of economic revival together with military revival. Then only a new super power would emerge.

Independly India and China emerge as power centres to be friendly with both. There is no possibility of Muslim world emerging as a power block because 1.2 billion muslim are not a homogenous mass. They in fact are divided in about 40 countries with multiple ethnicity and culture.

Hence we have to wait for Russia with its leftover military might from Soviet days to re-emerge.

@Hari Sud - China seems more likely to emerge as a second super power, Russia with low birth rate and rampant alcoholism seems to be in a downward spiral with oil exports a silver lining.
