Rather good, but Gujarat is not really the leader of the pack or is it?

I will confess economics is not something I understand well.

    Can someone explain?

Well, I am a lay person too but some important points to be noted, under Modi -

    1) Gujarat has become the only Indian state to be power surplus. In 2002-2003, privatisation of state electriticty board was suggested which Modi opposed and brought it around through good policies. Guj is the only state to sell electricity to other states.

    2) Along with blistering industrial growth, Guj has also the highest agricultural growth in the last decade despite being an arid state. Maharashtra compares with Guj but it has the highest farmers suicides in country.

    3) Water conservation measures such as check dams constructed have brought up the water level.

    4) Good reduction in poverty among SC-ST.

    And how??

I will explain, if it does need explaining. What Guj had in 1971 was far worse than what Kerala, Mah, TN had decades earlier. It was late entrant. And it was due to Cong rule there.

Yeah it is, MODI is too good to be true for India.......If you copy his ideas then you may accelerate at the highest rate (you will surely add to your rate) ! Due secularism and CON party India may not but due to CCP China may!

This growth rate in a semi-arid state with lack of natural resources and limited talent pool is very good. He has focused on the weaknesses and grown on the state's strengths. It is the all round development that is being lauded.
