Killing of newborn babies is on the rise in Pakistan:

Killing of infants on the rise in Pakistan - CNN.com

Where's the great Islam?? Where's the Land of the Pure??

They can stop women from wearing mini-skirts, but meanwhile the killing of newborn babies isn't stopped?

Land of Pure = Land of Hypocrites
Happens every day in India......don't throw mud on others. I have personally known of at least two such incidences, when an illegitimate or unwanted child was killed. In the first one the girl (expecting mother) was kept inside the house to hide the bulge from neighbors, but everybody was knowing already. When the child was born, the biological father was summoned by girl's parents and given the responsibility of dumping the kid, he decided to bury it alive instead. Nobody cared.

In another incidence, a newborn was dumped inside a dustbin, and to the horror of people it was eaten alive by street dogs. Whole crowd witnessed the horror, child was disemboweled, with it's guts being spilled and eaten and could not even cry. In this case somebody called the police but it was too late.

Then, we have parents sacrificing their kids to god, girls being raped by their fathers, kids being sold into prostitution by their own parents. Young boys being forced into hazardous jobs for money.

In South Asia the so-called honor is more important than human life and dignity, this is a hard truth.

no, what is being said is that, if in a modern democratic prosperous country like india, infanticide occurs with alarming regularity, wouldn't pakistan with whom we share common cultural ancestry and whose country presently has a medieval illiterate poverty stricken fundamentalistic society be faring any better??... Of course infanticide will be worse in such desperate societies..

But yes, if this article had come about infanticide in india, it would have been put up as threads in numerous discussions fora in pakistan and debated endlessly about so called indian culture and its weaknesses..
So i guess, all is fair..

Arun, you are missing the point I am trying to convey, my point is that the news is about pakistan, discuss about them. I am the last one to say that India is perfect, but what is the need to bring India in to this discussion.

And we don't share anything with pakistanis, we are two different countries. We have a rich cultural history, of which we are proud off, nothing like pakistanis, who some days are Arabs, someday turks, other day something else.

Come on yaar we are 'infidels' and can do anything that is considered sin or non-Islamic. But why the Purest land on the Earth Pakistan is doing that ? there shouldn't be a single baby killing !!

I am just trying to say that this issue is not Pakistan-specific, its a part of the whole South Asian tradition and belief where children are considered to be private property of parents, society silently tolerates the child abuse and infanticide. Society tactically approves such acts in certain cases, particularly when the child is born outside the institution of marriage. Its a hard truth that we South Asians are insensitive in such cases, human life is cheap here. Culturally Pakistan is closer to North West India than the Dar-Ul-Islam of Arab.

Its not a religious issue, its a cultural issue.
