Clearly some good policy and also intention. With its huge range, the MKI from AnN and TN can cover a very big area in the IOR. With MAR, the range can be extended all the way to Indo-China.

The current radius of operation is 1500Km. With drop tanks, carrying 4 tons of fuel, it maybe 2250Km. The new upgrade will increase range considerably due to increased fuel efficiency of the new engine. Double the figures for range.

With MAR, the range would be endless for a manned fighter like the MKI.

I don't think IAF will move MKIs to AN though, the Navy will most probably fly Mig-29Ks and N-LCAs from INS Baaz.

TN will be the farthest MKIs will be from the Indo China border, but it doesn't really make a difference.

Alright. But I was referring to something else. I mean, literally, the base in TN will be the farthest from the Chinese border, but it won't matter. :)

Anyway, Kalaikunda and the aircraft in the North East are much closer to ASEAN states as compared to the one in TN.
